My Visit to Garbarakshambigai & Akhilandeswari Temple with Bus route in a day

Hi Ladies,

just thought of sharing my experience of visiting to Garbarakshambigai & Akhilandeswari Temple with Bus route in a day.

We started from chennai and reached kumbakonam bus stand via SETC bus.

We landed in bus stop and lodged in LMH Lodge where they charge for 500rs very near to cycle/bike stand outside the bus stop....they provide hot water with an tip of rs 10rs to hotel boy....had bath and get ready by 10 am and had breakfast in saravana bhavan hotel within the bus stop area where we felt food is good.

Akhilandeswari Temple in karuvalanchery:

Then we are in bus stand where outstation buses from chennai other cities come, we have to look out for bus which goes to "Mannarkudi", ask the conductor to give ticket for "marathanallur " stop which is 5rs per head and we will reach in 20 mins max of 6km from bus stand.

we boarded a bus no : 451

Then from Marathanallur you have to get into a road which will take you to akhilandeswari temple, its an 2km walk inside the road to reach temple. you can have a walk to temple if you love to walk in roads between green fields.

first an Siva temple will come and from there keep taking lefts whenever you get two roads, atlast you will reach the temple. where the preist home is just opposite to temple incase if he is not in temple you can feel free to ask in his home.

They require 3 coins, one ghee packet, coconut, 7 turmeric pieces, flower, banana, and vathialai pakku for doing worship, if possible take these things or get it from the near by shop for 60rs.

Then the preist will ask you to pour ghee in steps of temple and put kollam and do pooja for you. This temple is in remote area with any commercial things happening in temple so you can have a relaxed worship in the temple

They will give back 7 turmeric pieces that we gave for pooja, we need to apply it for our body and good news for baby will come soon.

you can alternatively take an auto from "Marathanallur" stop to temple if you cant walk 2km distance.

We again had lunch in saravana bhavan which was quite cheap, tasty and hygenice and went for rest in lodge for 3 hours. we woke up again by 3pm to start our journey.


Garbarakshambigai Temple in thirukurukavur :

We now have to come to city bus stand which is just near to moffisil bus stand, from there you have to take an bus no 11, which stands in the stand no 1.

This bus will drop you to Thirukarukavur directly in 1hr of time of 10rs cost per person.

or you can alternatively take an bus to papanasam and again connect for an bus which will go to thirukurukavur.

we actually took bus no 454 L which went to temple arch and it goes upto tanjore
and while returning we have to walk to pillayar koil bus stop where the bus no 11 start to kumbakonam bus stand

When we got down in arch, you have to walk an kilometer distance inside to reach temple.

we bought three flower malai, one for ganesha, one for shiva, one for garbarakshambigai amman with two set of pooja bags for a cost of 150rs outside the temple

without pooja bags the temple people are not doing archanai for us.

when we enter into the temple its more commercial, they have counter to sell

ghee prasadam - 55rs
ghee lights - 25rs ( one has to be lighten at ganesha, one at shiva and rest 9 at garbarakshambigai place_

books with slogans, photos of gods, archanai tickets etc...,

if you get the entire set its 185rs include ghee prasdam, lightings, archanai ticket, books, photos.....

when you enter temple they will get the ghee and ask your name, rasi, natachatra, you will be asked to put ghee on steps of amman temple, put one 5rs coin in steps and worship

they will give ghee prasad which you have to mix with 1/2 litre of ghee and couples should have it for 48 days, girls should not have it during periods days....

good news will come soon when you have the ghee prasad/

while we return via bus get down in maha maham temple tank and visit the temple as it an famous temple in kumbakonam and you can cover it easily as its on the way.

you have to tell the amman slogan daily and pray.

we reached room back, had dinner and started in bus back to chennai and had a safe, cost effective, great worship and a good time in a day @ kumbakonam
