    Hi all,

As you read on my subject line. My question is pre-conception test is necessary in order to have a healthy baby. we are trying since june 2014 or 3+ months but no luck...we both are healthy in our early 30's or say under 35. We have not take any test but my friends recommend me to take pre-conception for safe side. I am planning to schedule with general physician for lab work. So, my question is if you have regular period and generally healthy than do you still need to take pre-conception test?

thank you all for your input! and keep me in your prayers...
    Good luck all

Normal conception may take up to a year. If you are only trying for 3 months then please wait before doing anything invasive.

    Hi Ross,
It is not compulsory to take these tests. However when you start TTC, it is a good idea to visit an ob-gyn. Don't go to a primary care physician.
Your ob-gyn will do an exam and run your labwork. It is a good idea for your DH to get the semen analysis done as well. If you have insurance all these tests will most likely be covered. These are simple tests and there is nothing invasive.
3 months is not a long time, but it is good to assure yourself that everything is fine. And if needed, you still have time to consult specialists.
    Wish you all the best.

Not necessary or compulsory as such but if you are very desirous to have one and also considering your age, I would suggest you go for one in case you are not conceiving in next 6 mths to one year.

    Baby dust to you,

I would suggest just a simple blood test like fsh and amh, just to find out your egg reserves. If it comes normal i recomment trying at least for a year. Then take it forward with a fertility expect and do a sperm test as well as a hsg (tube test).
Beyond age 35 fertility declines at much faster rate than women in their 20's,however that bein said,i have seen women get pregnant easily at ages of 40.Again why take a risk??
