Should I believe now that there is no pregnancy?

Hi Ladies,

I am in big dilemma, I don't know what to do. please suggest. Here is my case-

Everything is normal for me and my DH. I had got HSG done in march, both tubes were open. Since march I did not go to any doctor and took a break. I got my last cycle on june 2nd. Since then no periods, it has been more than 8 weeks.

I have been consulting doctor and doing hpt every week. But negative hpt always. Even today I tested, and it was negative again. Last week my doctor suggested me to go for USG and the report says-

Endometrium thickness-10mm, no gestational sac seen, no free fluid in uterus and a 2.8X2.6 cm cyst in left ovary. Normal cyst, no calcification etc.

Last week I could not see the doctor so I went today. She sad it is not pregnancy, some hormonal imbalance and she prescribed me dhuphaston and favogol? She said, you will get your cycles after this and then try again.

Somehow I believe I am pregnant. If implantation bleeding happens actually, then I had some brown spotting on 2nd July. And I am having sore breasts, bloated feeling and little nausea. And moreover I don't have PCOS, thyroid etc. And maximum I have skipped only one cycle in my life time (that was due to stress). This time I have skipped two cycles and no AF and negative hpt:idontgetit:. It is so frustrating. DH says follow whatever doc says, its in your mind and you will develop another complication if you don't follow now.

Please share your stories if it happened with some of you and you were actually pregnant.

If the doctor has done an ultrasound and days that there is no gestational sac, then unfortunately it is not a pregnancy, dear. If in doubt consult another specialist for a confirmation. Your husband is right here. I can imagine how disappointed you must be; do follow your doctors suggestions though.

Read up about false pregnancy on Wikipedia. It is common in mammals, including humans (though it is quite rare)

Dear Op,

As guesshoo said I too feel unfortunately this was not your cycle . As even if it's ectopic then you will get positive in your HPT . So better follow your doctor advise to induce your periods and then run a hormonal test to know the reason for the delay . I can understand your disappoint but don't waste time further .

missing periods do happen at anytime and endo thickness of 10 mm is less for a pregnancy .

Dont worry dear . Soon things will fall in place.

Thanks gusshoo and luckwaves! you people are right, I have started following doctors instructions. My Doc says negative hpt rules out that there is no pregnancy if it was positive without gestational sac then it would be complicated (Ectopic pregnancy). So no pregnancy:-(.
I was hopeful because once it happened to one of my friend Her UPTs were negative till 3 months and she did not get anything in scan also. Doctor prescribed her medicines for periods. Still she did not get AF and finally in next scan her pregnancy showed up in scan. But I guess everybody is not that lucky:-(

May be many a times HPT are not completely right. so you could do a blood test beta HCG and see what are the results. I am not sure if doctor suggested to you or not. But if you still have some confusion in the mind, this blood test will let you know exact result.
