I have been visiting this forum from quite some time now. I am not getting, what I should do, this is the best place where you ladies can understand my problem and guide me well. I am 33 years old, will be 34 next year. I got married in 29 years, but that time I was far from my husband for higher studies, so we stayed away for two years. When we moved together I was 31. It took two three months to convince him that we should plan for baby now, as he wanted me to first settle in career. Anyhow we tried for 4-5 months naturally without any doctor's consultancy, but I did not conceive. After that my MIL (who was really a very nice person, not like typical MILs), fell ill and she passed away. My DH was very close to her, it took long time for him to come out of this trauma. Now We've been trying from last one year, with on and off during fertility period. We got the test done for me and my DH. My DH's sperm count etc. is OK. I have got HSG done (3 months back), both tubes are open. I have been consulting doctor from last 6-7 months. With every month scanning, we know that dominant follicle is there in almost every cycle. After HSG, my doctor told me I should go for IUI now, because its been long time now that we've been trying naturally. MY HSG experience was horrible, very very painful. But I had read that after HSG the chances increase, that is why I thought of taking a break for 2-3 months. Now its already been 3 months, I had planned that if nothing happens, I will go for IUI in July. Many of my friends and my SIL are telling me that its high time, as my age is not in my favor, I should go for it as early as possible. But both me and my DH want it to be naturally, as we both do not have any complications. Moreover I need lot of courage for IUI after HSG's experience. Ladies, I don't know how to fight with this unexplained infertility. Please suggest me, as many of you have been through this phase, you are the best people to understand me. Can I still take chance by trying naturally? or Should I go for IUI now. Is there any other alternative, which can increase my chances?

    Hey msms,
you can try iui ..its not painful at all.it just takes 5 mins procedure .they will do follicular monitoring as natural cycle and then iui by using your husband sample.

go for it ...I have tried 6 iuis....though I could not conceive and tried 3 ivd too ...but still waiting to hold baby....each case is unique and some people conceive in first iui or ivf.

    Hello friend,
Sooner you will be blessed with a baby. Please don't worry as it puts you in stress and its stress that influences your conception. So stay calm and composed.
My suggestion would be go for early iui as its just injecting the sperm in to you. Not so painful I suppose.
Before that why have your doctor not suggesting you any fertility related tablets which would increase your ovulating eggs and would help you.
Usually tablets like clomid letrozol siphene would be given from day 3to day 5. They usually enhance the production of fertile eggs during ovulation. When you try naturally during that time your chances are more. Just consult your doctor on this.

Be confident and pray god next year you could see a little ones on your lap.

Thanks for quick replies both of you. Sorry I did not mention, I have already taken those treatments that you mentioned god2014. It started with Dhuphaston for 5-6 months, then I have taken clomid for two months, after that only my doctor told me that there are side effects of clomid, it makes uterine layer thin,if it is taken for long time. Then she told me that I should get HSG done, to see if there is blockage in tubes. After HSG reports were fine, I was told to go for IUI. That was last where I took a break and did not see the doctor at all. But now its already been three months. So now I am confused.

    Thanks for your support!!

Is that so, then please don't delay anymore as again iui is not that much hectic do it soon. Because as you delay then its again leading to problems. After iui its I CSI or ivf they do. Your body must have the strength to withstand it. So you should never delay now as age again a factor which would make you weak to bear. So better now than late never. Please don't hesitate its again your husband's sperm going to be injected. So try to fix it early and do it.

    Hi Dear,

I have no first hand experience with the treatments you undergo but I know someone who did went through all this, on top of it her husband had very little sperm count. First child was happening second IUI and they had a beautiful baby girl when she was 33/34. After that they settled with the thought it will be their only child but never used contraceptives as they thought they have no chance anyhways, around two years later she even received naturally!!!!!! If i remember right she was 35/36 that time or even bit older :)
Im just telling you this story to encourage you :) its never to late and you should not give up hopes :) Go for IUI and dont feel bad about it or as its not natural, a lot of ppl do so nowadays.

    Hi Msms,
Even i would say to go ahead with IUI. IUI is close to natural conception, so, don't worry about it!
Eat healthy, concentrate on protein rich foods. That will help you in bringing good health to you.
Try to stay calm, positive & strong! All will go well!
    Baby dust to you!

Dear...don't even think about it...just go for an IUI...its very simple, quick and painless procedure. I don't think IUI is associated with any complications....in fact, in an IUI, they put your DH's sample deep inside in the uterus and as a result, your DH's sperms can bypass many obstacles in vagina and cervix. They will also wash your DH's sample before putting into your uterus. The washed sample contains good and strong swimmers....so there are many pluses of an IUI. It is way better than an IVF which involves using tons of medication and a minor surgical procedure. I have been through both...so my vote is surely for an IUI!!!!

    Best wishes.

Thanks all for your support:thankyou2:. I think I will go for IUI as all of you are suggesting the same thing. Now next problem is, the doctor whom I consulted three months back is infertility specialist. She is good, but she never used to take any record of patients. I never saw her with any files etc. She used to ask me only, today is which day, last time what was the size. This bothers me, she is good, as she had good number of patients but I don't know If I should go to her for this or I should change the doctor. Will second opinion matter in this case? or IUI is simple procedure so it doesn't matter?
