    Hello All,

I need help from fellow bay-areaites. I live in Sunnyvale and am looking for a good doctor. We have been TTC for 6 months and want to consult a specialist now. Please suggest names, good experiences you may have had with certain doctors.

Thanks a lot. I would really appreciate this help.

Dr. Karen Purcell at Fertility Physicians of Northern California, located near Good Sam Hospital is great! She helped us through a difficult time with utmost compassion and the best treatments. Check out the website Fertility Physicians of Northern California. Another good doctor at that practice is Dr. Kim.

They will begin with a series of tests and blood work to check out the health history of both you and your partner, including sperm analysis for your husband. Based on the results, she will then advise you on the appropriate plan.

    All the best!

    Pooja

Thats great! All the best with the appointment. Both Dr. Purcell and Dr. Kim are really great!

You can't send PM's until you've posted a certain number of posts.

It depends on what the findings are.

If you are having problems ovulating, then generally they start you off on clomid. If there are male factor issues such as low sperm count, morphology etc then they recommend doing an IUI together with the clomid. If clomid does not work for you, then the next step is injectibles. If that does not work, the next step is IVF.

They generally start you off on clomid at the lowest dose which is 50mg per day and if that does not work, increase the dose next few cycles until they figure out what dosage works for you. I would recommend that once they find a dosage that works for you, go for an IUI because that greatly increases your chances of conceiving. Also, if you tell them you want to be aggressive in your treatment, they may recommend skipping clomid and moving onto injectibles directly, because with clomid, the chance of ovulation per cycle is somewhere between 20-50%, but is 98% with injectibles. The only catch is that depending on your insurance, clomid would cost you less than $100 per cycle whereas injectibles will run you between $2k and $5k per cycle.

Also, make sure you start taking a pre-natal vitamin from now itself. Drink lots of water, do breathing excercises, workout atleast 30 minutes a day and try to eat a low-carb diet. All of these help you in ovulation/conception. And if you go for an IUI, I have a separate set of tips for you :)

Know a good OBGYN in the Bay Area?

Hi ladies.. hope u all r well.
I am residing in Mountain View, CA and would really appreciate if anyone could suggest me with confidence, a good Obgyn i could see.. i have pcos and am ttc for sometime.. i did see a obgyn until now but i feel like i should try a second opinion from another good Obgyn, before going ahead with any treatments such as IUI .. that i have been suggested.

Plz share your experience with any bay area docs, if you have seen any.
    thanx

Re: Know a good OBGYN in the Bay Area?

I heartilty recommend any of the doctors at FPNC - they are all good and I conceived my now 20 month old on my first IUI there. www.fpnc.com is their website. I also saw Dr. Karen Kunzel at the Los Olivos Medical Group (www.lowmg.com) and really liked her - she delivered my kid!
