Default High FSH

Hi All,

I missed my periods for the last two months...so went to a gynaec. She asked me to get blood tests done..and my FSH seems to be very high...above 50.
She advised me to take prevera to get my periods but since I got them the same day I didnt have to. Now she has asked me to repeat FSH .
I am really tensed.
I have PCOS symptoms as well.
Did anybody have problems conceiving with high FSH. Please share.

According to my doctor, FSH needs to be below 12 to have good quality eggs. Level above 25 is indicative of premature ovarian failure and / or early menopause. Ofcourse, sometimes, our hormones are out of whack and return to normal in a few months.

Was your FSH measured on cycle day 3? Refer to this website.
FertilityPlus: Hormone Levels & Fertility Bloodwork .

It is a good idea to re-test FSH, preferably taking provera and testing on the 3rd day of your cycle. If it's still high, you can try accupuncture. Some of my friends have been able to reduce their FSH to normal levels after just a few months of treatment.

Hi,
Thanks for your responses. The doc has asked me to get blood test repeated on the CD3. So lets hope for the best.
