Does hypothyroidism have any effect on getting pregnant?

we r ttc but but i went for doctor i found out i have little hypothyroid (6.5) which doctor seems to be negligible and i am obese and i am working on my weight .will this have any effect on getting pregnant will it cause any problem in future. please help me out .:help

Please check with other endocrine specialist too...
It is not good to neglect hypothyroid.
Your doctor might want to wait to see whether it might get improved with your exercise. Please do take medications else it might lead to other problems.

I have Hypothyroid too but I am on medication. I have one question is it difficult for a person with Hypothyroid to conceive. :confused2:

Hi,

Please make sure you resolve your "Hypothyroidism" before you plan on conceiving as it does cause infertility problems or miscarraiges. Thyroid galnd is very important as it is responsible for lot of our daily activities like weight gain, tiredness, feeling very cold, mood changes & conceiving. I know this as my sister had the same problem.

i just had first baby in nov
my doc says i ve hypothyd for life time now, and offering medication
is tehre a way to completely make it normal again?

I have hyper thyroid problem for last 17 years and I am on medication for all these years. It is just a simple pill once in a day. I don't see it as a big deal. Make sure to see your doctor at least once in an year. Once you start taking your medication regularly, everything functions normal. Hence your hyper thyroid problem doesn't create issues in conceciving. I had both my children after I found out about the thyroid issue. So there is nothing to worry. Best of luck.

thanks for clarifying. have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and we are trying for a baby too. was very worried that i wouldnt be able to conceive.

Hypothrodism and trying to conceive..

Hi All,

I am trying to conceive from last 2 months. My cycle has been irregular. Today i came to know that i have PCOS and from blood test i was told that my TSH is 11.17. Doctor has asked me to take thyronorm for 3 months which keeps my TSH normal. Can i try to conceive this month while having this tablets?. Doctor said it would not be any problem, but i am scared. Is there is anyone who conceived while having thyronorm tablets?. Please let me know.

Hi Mythu,

I conceived while i was on Thyroid tablet(50mcg) and delivered a healthy baby.Ofcourse ,i got pregnant just after 2 mons of being diagonised with hypothyroidism and prescribed Thyronorm.But i have no idea abt the PCOS.I am still on the Thyroid tablet for past 6yrs.

So stay positive and follow the advice of your Doctor.Hope God will soon bless u with a healthy baby.take care.

Thanks for your reply. Do we need to take this tablets lifelong?. Can't we control this problem by taking tablets for ferw days?. Did u try to convieve in the first month of taking tablets?. Sorry to bother you with lots of questions.
