Hi Srinidhi, body needs right temperture for this process. You can check with your doctor too regarding your doubt. Fenugreek has cooling effect and papaya, pine apple etc has heating effects. Hence if you have any doubts, better avoid taking it now. Just keep a balanced diet. You can have buttermilk if you feel heat in the weather. Lots of baby dust to you and best wishes.

    Hi!
Even i had started taking fenugreek seeds in the morning on cycle day 1 this cycle. However, my periods lasted for 6 days instead of 5 and i also noticed sticky brown discharge on CD 7 and 8, and thought it was quite strange, since i had never come across something like that in all these years of periods!
I dont want to attribute that to fenugreek, but i have read it causes uterine contractions and is given to induce labour sometimes, so i thought i might as well stop taking it....better safe than sorry:)

well this looks simlar to the confusion on whether green tea is good or not for conception...

one of the ILite had suggested me to have methi seeds early morning which have been soaked overnite in water..
I believe that lady is now pregnant.

Methi is also good to lower cholesteol and body heat

Regarding whether it causes uterine contractions, guess an ayurveda specialist will be able to shed more light on it

    Dear All,
Fenugreek seeds have been found to contain protein, vitamin C, niacin, potassium, and diosgenin (which is a compound that has properties similar to estrogen). Other active constituents in fenugreek are alkaloids, lysine and L-tryptophan, as well as steroidal saponins (diosgenin, yamogenin, tigogenin, and neotigogenin).
Due to its estrogen-like properties, fenugreek has been found to help increase libido and lessen the effect of hot flashes and mood fluctuations that are common symptoms of menopause and PMS. In India and China it has also been used to treat arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, improve digestion, maintain a healthy metabolism, increase libido and male potency, cure skin problems (wounds, rashes and boils), treat sore throat, and cure acid reflux. Fenugreek also has a long history of use for the treatment of reproductive disorders, to induce labor, to treat hormonal disorders, to help with breast enlargement, and to reduce menstrual pain. Recent studies have shown that Fenugreek helps lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels, and may be an effective treatment for both type 1 and 2 diabetes. It is also being studied for its cardiovascular benefits.

This is authentic information about the herb..I don't advice my patient to take it if they are trying to conceive....its my personal opinion...

    take care,

    Dr Surabhi jain

Research on the effects of fenugreek as it relates to fertility is limited, but a 2006 study conducted at the department of animal production, faculty of agriculture at the University of Sana’a, in the Republic of Yemen, tested the reproductive results of rats who consumed a diet of 30 percent fenugreek seeds. The study concluded that male rats that ate the seeds experienced reduced sperm quality, and female rats experienced fewer fetuses per pregnancy. Clinical tests confirming fenugreek’s effect on human fertility are nonexistent as of 2011

    Ladies,

i take fenugreek water every morning(soak fenugreek seeds overnite and drink only the water). It helps to lower blood sugar levels which helps in controlling PCOS. It helped me to regulate my periods. Methi is used in Indian cusine for a long time now, so there is no harm is taking it. We can debate on food habits, remember we can take any food but moderation is the key

    Hi!
Why not ask a qualified person like a dietician/your Gyneac itself instead of confusing yourself. After all you need advice for a valid reason so seek it from a professional.Good dieticians will also give you a proper diet to lose weight as well as control obesity.take care.
