Default How to post in Tamil Font?

Dear Friends,

To post in Tamil Font, you need to first have Tamil Font installed in your computer.

I am just copy pasting the instructions I received from a friend about how to instal Unicode Tamil Font in your computer:.

It will be very useful to you, if you able to install unicode driver and fonts. Here I give you the detailed step by step instructions.

Before downloading anything, you need to enable unicode support (multiple languages support) in your operating system. It is best to install windows XP. Normally when you install XP, by default it wont be enabled.
You need to specify additional language support also. If you had not done it at the installation time, you can do it now. How to verify whether it is enabled or not?

Please go to Control Panel and Click on the icon "Regional and Language Options"
There will be three tabs in that window. Regional options, languages, Advanced.
In that, select the 'Languages' tab.

Under languages, there will be section called, Supplemental Language support. There will be two (check) boxes, you just find whether the first one is clicked or not.
The first one is, "Install files for complex script and right to left languages ." If it is checked, no problem, you have got it already enabled.
If not, please clik on the first box. A tick mark will appear, means it is selected. Then click OK , now it will ask for you to insert the XP CD. (Yes, you need to keep your XP CD aside before trying this). Just insert the XP CD, everything will be done automatically. Your system will be restarted.

Now, the major work is over.

Two other things you need to have for typing in Tamil unicode.
1. Unicode font(s)
2. Unicode driver (e-kalappai).

You can view a tamil website, only if you have an unicode font installed in your system. Normally windows
XP comes with a Tamil unicode font 'Latha'. So, you wont require anymore unicode fonts to view unicode
websites. Eventhough, you dont require any other unicode font, I would suggest you to install few more
unicode fonts that will be very useful for typing. You can download the set of unicode fonts from a tamil
website www.arusuvai.com/htlp.html; there you will find a link "Unicode fonts download".

Click on that link, it will start to download the file, please select a location for storing the file. It will be an Exe
file in the name 'TamilUniFonts.exe'. Once completed your download, go to the location where you have
downloaded the file and click on that file. It will start to install unicode fonts automatically. You dont need to
do anything. Thats all. Now more unicode fonts will be installed in your system.

Next thing, you have to install the unicode driver software for editing text in any text editors (like, notepad,
word pad.. etc.) You need to install e-kalappai now.

Please go to thamizha.com - Downloads

and there you will find three e-kalappai version under downloads title. Download

Category: eKalappai
eKalappai 2.0b (Anjal) Version: 2.0b
Submitted Date: 2004/11/7
Description:
This is the latest version(2.0Beta) of eKalappai with Anjal Keyboard layout.
(Download the file and unzip and then install )
Click and download, remember the location where you are storing the downloaded file. Once downloading
completed, go to that location and click on the eKalappai2.0b(anjal) file. It will start to install keyman driver.
Just go with the default option, you wont be having anything to modify. If it is installed properly, you will find
an icon in the letter "K" at the desktop, means keyman driver is installed.

Click on the K icon, it will launch the e-kalappai, now a small icon will appear at the bottom tray. (right most
bottom corner).

Thats all, installation steps are completed.
After finishing these steps, please use note pad to type in english and tamil, simultaneously.
Save the file encoding as unicode. This is important.

To install any other regional language, it is important to have that font installed in your computer and then start from there.
Love,
Chithra.
