| hi everyone, i am padma and living in London UK. we have been trying for a baby for the last 1 year but so far no success. i have been diagnosed with pcos and as a result have very irregular periods. on a recent trip to india we also got my husband tested and his speerm count was reported to be low about 20 i think and the doctor suggested we go in for IVF treatments without delay. she also recommended we use ovulation kits to help us know when i am ovulating and put me on Fertyl. my questions are 1. what exactly are these ovulation kits; and 2. how to use them 3. any information on IVF treatments in the Uk thanks |

| Dear friends Here's what I did to get tablet free periods. I have been working out for the past 3 months. My weight has reduced from 80kgs to 72 kgs. I follow GM diet every alternate week. Sugarless Coffee(Tried sugar free, came to know aspartme is a suspected carcinogen, so stopped using). No food outside(not even my fav Chat items, evening bajji,bonda,cake..). Got up early morning, cooked my own food and had it for lunch. All these coupled with 1hr of rigorous workout(10mins walk on tread mill @ 6 Km/h, 20 mins cycling not less than 85RPM, 15 mins rowing(500m), 15mins ab exercise and finish with vibrator belt). I also had the help of fitness instructor. Initially it would be tiring to do without our regular food. Another ingredient which helped me is Horse gram (Kulthi in Hindi, Kollu in Tamil). You can find it in Chitvish's recipes. Just soak a palm full of horsegram overnight, wash it next day & pressure cook in excess water. Drink that water with salt. Use the cooked dhal & make sundal or eat it plain boiled or however you like. But include this in your diet once or twice a week. It helps reduce your sugar levels and also regulates your periods. And above all, I got settled in a 9 to 6 job which is less demanding. My stress levels have gone down.Dr.Kurien joseph saw my hormone profile and told good improvement. Your stress is directly proportional to hormonal imbalance. As recommended by Gyn, go for FSH studies to check for ovulation. But all this is going fine. But I dunno why my conception is getting delayed ![]() .Best is yet to come...Hope this helps all...All the best Luv Ridge Last edited by ridgemma : 7th May 2008 at 09:09 AM. |

| Dear Ridge, to you! Thank you for sharing your fitness regimen with us ![]() . You give me a lot of inspiration to lose weight and regularise my periods! I have one doubt though - will following a sudden diet or strenous execise affect my cycles? I am asking this because my husband and I are undergoing treatments and we will be undergoing IUI for the first time this month. I just want to ensure that my starting something all of a sudden will not affect my chances of getting pregnant. As of now my hormone levels are ok, thanks to the ovarian drilling I underwent a couple of months back. Regards, Anitha

| Dear Anithaa This regimen I followed because I decided to wait for some time before undergoing any fertility treatment like IUI,IVF. I think you should really consult your doc before you take up this fitness and change of diet.We cannot take chances at this moment. Please be careful in your decisions as u r also undergoing fertility treatments. Best of luck ![]() Luv Ridge |

| Hi Friends, For those who are trying to concieve, i have a suggestion. i know a doctor whose name is Dr. Mmatha deendayal and the chances of conceving after vising the doctor are very high. the hospital in which the doctor practices is Infertility health center (Not sure of the eact name) which is opposite to prashant theatre, sec'bad. So all the yet to become mothers do spare some time and visit this hospital. All the best. Sunanda Varma. |

| Dear Ridge, I had an appointment with my doc. She has advised me against trying any diet or exercise now, as it might affect my cycle. So in case I do not conceive this time(I do hope this does not happen), then she will suggest something for me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Regards, Anitha

| Dear GVC Take a Chill pill !! Cool, Relax! !! This is the first and foremost lesson that most of us in this forum have learnt the hard way (Hope my ILite friends will agree)![]() U r just 6 months married. If u r planning for a kid, please visit a gyn first. With appropriate checkup and guidance, your anxiety will be halved. You have not mentioned any irregular periods, sudden weight increase....or any other symptoms in ur post. Why r u fighting a faceless enemy ? Relax dear !! There are BRAVEHEARTS around who have conceived after 4 years facing all odds. There is no problem in doing household work and travelling, unless your gyn says so.I have seen pregnant ladies in my office coming till the 8th month, travelling 2-3 hrs per day. This is a quite a normal biological change that a women's body can adapt. Visit your gyn.She will ask you to take tests like Follicle study, hormone profile, blood tests, only if necessary, based on your medical history from puberty.she will recommend folic acid, iron tabs. Quite normal procedure. ALL THE BEST ![]() Luv Ridge |
