Wink I bet you don't......

First and foremost, Bonjour to everyone! This is my first post and I hope that somehow it will help you out gals and guys alike. These are very simple but yet I bet the most neglected parts of our daily beauty routines, so I just want to point out and share some things that are no-brainer but will come in handy and helpful.

I BET YOU DON'T....

1. wash and sanitize your hands properly before you touch your face.

There's a valid reason why your parents used to tell you to wash you hands before you eat your meal. And yes, same thing goes before you touch your face and start putting those creams or whatsoever in your face. Our hands are one of the dirtiest parts of our body and might just be the culprit of the zit in your lovely cheek. So even before washing your face in the morning or at night, be sure to wash your hands first to make sure that they are free of those germs/bacteria that cause pimples, then you can go ahead and start cleaning your face. And oh, please do your face some favor by not touching it as much as possible during the duration of the day unless, UNLESS they are properly sanitized.

2. pat and dry..

Yes, that is how you are supposed to dry your face after cleansing and NOT RUB WITH A TOWEL. The skin of our face is not as thick as the skin of the other parts of our body, so treat it gently. It might also help to have a separate face towel to dry your face other than the one you use for your body. I mean, just imagine drying your legs/feet with your towel and your face too?? naaahhh.... As for me, I prefer a hanky to separately dry my face just because hankies are much softer than towels and more convenient too.

3. put sunscreen

It's a must. This is one thing that I cannot live without because I easily get burned under the sun. Remember that there is no place to escape the searing sun and that means even when you are indoors . You can be exposed to the sun's harmful rays during any season, any temperature and even on a cloudy day. UV rays also reflect off any surface such as water, cement, snow and sand. And oh, those fluorescent light bulbs in our houses do give off UV rays as well, not much but well, everything adds up.
Try to use a sunscreen with at least SPF 15. I use SPF 30 and try to re-apply by midday. Do look though at the ingredients of your sunscreen, because there are ingredients that provide you the maximum protection from UVA/UVB. Try to look for a sunscreen that has titanium dioxide or zinc oxide because it will give you the maximum protection you need against UV rays. If you have an oily skin, you can always opt for gel sunscreens because they are lighter and you wont feel sticky during the humid days.

So there, that's all for now. I would love to add more but readers might get bored if I add a single more word to this rather long post. And besides, it's my time to sleep. Au revoir! Plus tard!

Hi jeny.. Do you live in India? When I was there I used to buy Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunblock. It's SPF 50+ and very light on skin. It is a bit pricy I guess but the size compensates for the price. I like the fact that you only need a little amount and you won't feel sticky at all when applied to your face or body which is I think is the number one reason why a lot of people do not bother to put sunblock ( because of the sticky feeling you get upon application). Another one I like is the Lotus Herbals Gel Sunscreen, if I am not mistaken it has SPF 70 and gives a clean feeling as well. I used to buy them in Health and Glow stores or I think you can easily find them in some grocery shops (beauty products section). Aside from the non-sticky factor, both are non-comedogenic meaning they won't clog your pores. Oh and about Lakme, I also tried this brand but it's just not for me. It's sticky and it gave me some white heads...

Rules in Buying a sunscreen:

High SPF
Non-sticky
Non-comedogenic

So there...Hope I helped you..^_^

''My Skin is dry'' By that, do you mean to say your body? May I suggest a brand to use for you dry skin then? A very good lotion to use would be the Vaseline Whitening Lotion, the one which comes in pink plastic container. I really like it not for its ''whitening'' property which I think is a bonus if you like to have a brighter skin but it is also a very good body moiturizer and is not heavy on skin at all. One good thing to do is apply it as soon as you finish taking a bath when your skin is a little bit more damp, in that case, your skin is more permeable and it absorbs more of the moisturizer. And also do not use a harsh soap that has too many additive in cleansing because it dries out your skin.

About the oily facial skin, you said ''sometimes''. Is this seasonal? Is it too oily? First, check if your facial cleanser is again too harsh. It can cause a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils, thus, the oily face.

DO NOT use a toner that has alcohol in it. Actually, toners are overrated and they are not needed at all. What I suggest you to do is get some rose water instead. Which reminds me that mine is almost fully consumed..aaahh! I wish I could find them here in France.. That's what I like about India, you guys have so many natural products. Anyway, back to what I was saying. Find a brand that is 100 percent rose water. No more no less. I found a brand there in India when I was there, it is called Lambency, it is the one I am using right now, it is pure that you can even use it as food seasoning (as what the label says, but no, I don't use it for that purpose... only for the face.) Rose water brings back your skin to its normal pH level. You can simply put it in a cotton pad and (remember the rule DUB not RUB) dab it into your face. As for me, I have a small spraying bottle and I have filled it with rose water so I can just spray it into my face. When your face is damp, you can go ahead and put on some moisturizer.

Moisturizer. We all need this. Like you, I also have an oily skin. Look for a moisturizer that is non-comedogenic. Something that is not too heavy on the face and then apply just a thin coat of it because you don't need much since you already have an oily skin. Also, read the label of any product that you buy for your face. For oily skin, it is a NO NO to buy anything that has mineral oil in it. Even your make-up, always ask the saleslady if it has mineral oil in it. One more tip. Know when to use a lotion-based and cream-based moisturizer. During the cold season, it is better to use a lotion-based moisturizer because a cream will make your skin feel flaky and too heavy.

There! ^_^ I hope somehow I've helped you and did not bore you with a very long answer.... If you have any questions, please feel free to ask..

Thanks!
