Default Oil massage for glowing skin.

Dear Chithra and friends,

Some details are needed regarding oil bath for girls. My new neighbour-to-be has a 7 yr. old cute little girl who has dry skin and some facial hair is also there. So I suggested giving her oil bath, with nallennay-- but I couldn't answer some of her doubts. I vaguely remember my granny giving us an oil-bath, but details have no clue.
So I'm putting this query here, 'cos others may also find it useful.

1) How long should oil be left to soak ?
2) Can the kid sit in sun, or will it darken the skin ?
3) Can the oil be put for face also ? If not, how to keep facial hair less and skin soft ?
Can she use any cream for face for daily use, for the child ?
4) Which oil is best ? Should it be heated and then applied ? Should anything be added to
the oil ?
5) How many times in a week must this be done ?
6) Anything which must not be eaten after oil-bath ?

Kindly pour in your advises friends.
Thanks & regards.

HI
U gave a very good advice to ur neighbour.
Here r the answers for ur questions.

1.Oil bath can be done at home ony i mean in bathroom.

2. Sesame, Olive, Coconut are the best oils for oil bath.

3.After applying oil, we need to apply the paste.
For the paste:
Turmeric powder -1/2 T spn.
Moong dal powder(fine powder)-- 4 T spns
Milk
Lemon orange peel powder(optional)-1/2 spn
rosewater(optional)
Mix all of them , make a paste.

4.No need to heat the oil & no need to mix anything with oil.

Apply oil on whole body including face, gently massage in to skin.
Once the oil get absorbed into the skin then apply the paste.
massage body with paste, continue the massage ... paste gets dry & It wil fell down

5. after that pour water on body & then apply bath powder
Just wash body with bath powder.

6. then wash body with soap.
Thats it.
7. there is nothing like we should not eat & should eat after having oil bath.

Turmeric prevents hair growth. Oil bath keeps skin very soft.
This should be done weekly once.
This is not at all harmful, I am having this from my childhood.

Instead of milk we can use cream which forms as a layer on milk & curd.

If it is oily skin & pimples r coming then avoid milk /cream , make the paste with water or rosewater.

Hope this helps u.
Suneeta

Dear Kurinji,
Yes Oil bath always helps the skin to glow. Though the doctors say that it is not necessary, in practical experience I have understood that it alone could bring the glow to the skin.

Nallenai/ Sesame oil could be used to take oil bath. The oil bath (except on Diwali days should be taken only after the sun rise. As the child will be going to school on Fridays the oil bath could be given by 7 am itself.

Apply the oil thoroughly over the entire body, including face hair and the inside of the feet. Let the child soak in oil for just 5 mins. Give her a bath after applying oil. The water should not be steaming hot but warm.

After that a mixture of Shikakai, Besan powder and Kasturi Manjal could be used to wash off the oil. Use this only for the body and face. For the hair avoid the Manjal podi. After applying Shikakai mixture let it stay in the body and hair for five mins. Then wash it off thoroughly. The best method to test whether the oil is absorbed in the body is, rub your index finger and thumb on the skin of the girl and snap if the sound is good then the oil is absorbed/washed. If the sound is not so clear then you need to allow the child to have the shikakai paste for few more mins. But let it be the next week.

After oil bath, the normal food given is Milagu Jeera Rasam. But if the child feels sleepy avoid giving the oil bath on Fridays but you could do it on Saturdays for most of the kids it will be a holiday. But strictly avoid oil bath on Sundays. If it is ok, all women could take oil bath on Tuesdays and Fridays and men on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

hi,
oilbath is very good for skin, body. it'll reduce the body heat, apply it on all over the body, head also, instead of normal oil, heat the gingely oil(seasame) with little pepper then apply, itz more effective.
she is small girl so don't soak more than 5 mins, main thing be careful becoz she may get cold...
things should be avoid is keerai (green leaves) becoz oil bath will cool the nerves so v should not roam in the sun, also try to take maxi' rest, tell her not to sleep after having food, the hair should b dry out well. also after having bath, gas will form,so imml'y she should take some food..weekly once is better, thatz all i knew

Thanks very very very .....much girls :: sunitha, rajmi and viji -- my neighbour will be so happy and relieved. Now I'm tempted to do for myself also, though getting the time to apply, sit and soak -- that's luxury !!
Here, Friday is a holiday, no school --- so it will be ideal for the little one.

Regards.
