We do not have any issues pertaining to each other but we end up fighting endlessly because of my Mother. It is not that my mother does any major things but it is the small small things (like putting my relatives and my sisters plans first and ours second ,commenting on my wife's dressing etc. )which she does which drives my wife nuts. Though i agree with my wife that there are minor problems but she is overtly sensitive and she ends up Crying and fighting with me time in and time out. I have talked it out with my parents who though they understand but due to the generation gap do not feel there is much wrong in their behaviour. I have asked her to ignore the small things which every househild faces but she is too too sensitive and was too pampered at her parents place to ignore things. Now it seems she is getting depressed due to all this and is getting bitter towards my parents .

I was hoping some of you may be able to assist with some information about offering dakshina after pooja.

I am in the US, and recently I arranged Narayan Nagbali pooja in India. Btw, I should mention that the pooja has been done in my absence with someone sitting in and taking sankalp on my behalf since I was not able to go to India in person at this time.

Since I grew up in the west, I am not familiar with all of the customs with religious rites. Can some of you ladies tell me if it is customary to give additional dakshina (that is, in addition to what is already paid before pooja) to the priest after pooja and if so how does one determine correct amount? Also, am I supposed to give anna daan or vashtra daan to the priest and his wife? Since I am not in India, I am not sure how I would go about sending food or suitable clothing as his residence is 28 kms. outside nearest city, or for that matter of what sort would be suitable to send. In any case cash I can send by Western Union since I cannot give it in person.

I want to make certain that I am following correct ettiquette and customs. I would sincerely appreciate any information regarding what is appropriate to give after pooja under these circumstances. Thanks in advance for any helpful information. :cheers

The advent of technology and misuse of pre-natal sex detection and also attitude of the unscrupulous medical practitioners, who are facilitating the female foeticide through induced abortions. There are strict laws and penal actions against violators, but the laws have not worked. Over 10 million female foetuses have been aborted in India in the past two decades.

I feel we as women of the 21 st century should condemn this heinous acts against are Gender and take every step possible to save a girl child.

Why is it so much more "dusty" in India compared to countries like the UK, Australia, USA, etc...? Is it due to a lack of trees/shrubbery/grass to hold the dust in place? Is it due to less pavement? Is it because the climate is warmer? Why is there so much more dust in India that gets on things requiring much more cleaning than the countries above?
