I'm getting addicted so much to this that for the last one week, I've been doing very little at work other than surfing IL. I seem to be enjoying every part of it. :thumbsup. And at the same time there's abit of a scare sitting in the corner of my mind. :bowdown

I am in the US, and recently I arranged Narayan Nagbali pooja in India. Btw, I should mention that the pooja has been done in my absence with someone sitting in and taking sankalp on my behalf since I was not able to go to India in person at this time.

Since I grew up in the west, I am not familiar with all of the customs with religious rites. Can some of you ladies tell me if it is customary to give additional dakshina (that is, in addition to what is already paid before pooja) to the priest after pooja and if so how does one determine correct amount? Also, am I supposed to give anna daan or vashtra daan to the priest and his wife? Since I am not in India, I am not sure how I would go about sending food or suitable clothing as his residence is 28 kms. outside nearest city, or for that matter of what sort would be suitable to send. In any case cash I can send by Western Union since I cannot give it in person.

I want to make certain that I am following correct customs. I do not wish to offend the priest through ignorance of proper ettiquette. I would sincerely appreciate any information regarding what is appropriate to give after pooja under these circumstances. Thanks in advance for any helpful information. :cheers
