The 2010 edition of the premier Literature Festival is being organized from January 21-25,2010. Like yesteryears, it will be held in the Hall of Audience and gardens of the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Diggi</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Palace</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> – heritage property.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></font></font><br />
<font face="Verdana"><o:p></o:p></font><br />
<font face="Verdana"><font size="3">This year visitors to the festival can hope to spot familiar names at the fest like Maheshweta Devi, Hanif Quereshi, Rohinton Mistry and Vikram Chandra. Others who have confirmed their participation include Alexander McCall Smith, Candace Bushnell, Wole Soyinka and Niall Ferguson. <o:p></o:p></font></font><br />

<font face="Verdana"><font size="3">The literature festival is considered to be the biggest in <st1:place w:st="on">Asia</st1:place>. The main attraction is of course that the River Ganga is more cleaner here. Recently our family friend had to perform some religious rituals and instead of Haridwar, he headed out to Garhmukteshwar.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></font></font><br />
<font face="Arial"><font size="4">Garhmuketshwar is just 93 kms from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Delhi</st1:place></st1:City> and is easily approachable by road and rail. Besides taxis and cars, there are plenty of comfortabe Roadways buses to take you there. Besides taking a dip in the Ganges, you can also visit the famous Ganga Devi temple and the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Jarkandeshwar</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Temple</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>. Every year a big annual fair is held in the month of Kartik. <o:p></o:p></font></font></div>

<font face="Times New Roman"><font size="5">I have just returned from the 2 day music and arts festival being organized at the Lakeside Resort, Naukuchiatal, Uttarakhand. This festival entitled “Escape” is the latest in the series of music festivals sponsored by the Lakeside Resort management. Others include the Lakeside Jam and the Music in the Hills.</font></font><br />
<font face="Times New Roman"><font size="5">I met quite a few <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Delhi</st1:City></st1:place> faces at the fest. Everyone seemed out to make the most of the long weekend extending upto Monday. The festival has been organised at one corner of the  <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Naukuchiatal</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Lake</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>. I listened to Dhruv Sangaria of Da Saaz, Vedanta (fusion music) and the Indi –Pop group Astitva on the first day. </font></font><br />

His wife Devi was the daughter of a merchant from the adjacent Vidisha. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></font></font></font><br />
