Hello mom's of toddlers,
I am a mom of 2 years old boy (yet to turn 2 by next week)
So, I am into your club. I have been observing him since he is at age of recognizing the things. He just plays with cars only. He just wants cars nothing more than that, but always wants to hold and even while sleeping also he needs some cars along with him to sleep. He is so crazy only for it and dont even touch any teddies or barbies. Now a days whenever we go outside and if he happens to see any car toys , he just wants to grab them, if we deny he just cries alot. Now my home is a car shed of different size cars. Infact he searches for cars in magazines, news papers and even in his ABC books.
It really made me crazy day by day and he dont even move the pages if he happens to see a car and will show to all of us somany times.
Its driving me nuts that if he happens to grow crazy like ths, dont know about his attitude. Infact he dont sit for a single minute and always a busy body.
He just needs CARS on this earth!!!I feel!!
Please tell me if its a real habit of kids and will go away on its own?
Do any of you are facing this kind of behavior, may not be a car but anything else?
Now my house is full of Cars(30-40),Balls(10) and some guns aswell.
Dont know what to call this?

My Son is 2 and a half years old and sleeps with my MIL as I have a younger son. My MIL always puts diaper for him during night. I fought with her for that. It became a big issue. My DH said I insulted her and dont repeat this. I am a working lady(13 hrs out of home). Anyway she is not putting diaper for him during day time. After I come home, I take him to bathroom once every hr.Because of that, he passes urine only in bathroom after I come home. I hane no way to tell her to make him sleep with me bacause she will shout like anything and no one includng my DH will support m(That is almost impossible). If it continues like this, will he ever be potty trained or he will pass urine in bed always, if we put diaper??(FYI- He has not started informing me that he wants to pass urine, He only talks single words).

Please advise. How can I convince my MIL about potty training?

Hi friends...

Can we really make kids smart by videos or games? And by the way...."Your baby can read"....what about it?

The great Baby Einstein scam - Parenting on Shine

Courtesy by yahoo....

Of course it was too good to be true.

The New York Times reported Thursday that Disney is offering a refund to buyers of its ubiquitous “Baby Einstein” videos, which did not, as promised, turn babies into wunderkinds. Apparently, all those puppets, bright colors, and songs were what we had feared all along—a mind-numbing way to occupy infants.
This news has rocked the parenting world, which had embraced the videos as a miraculous child-rearing staple. Videos that make your kid smarter while you prepare dinner? Genius!

Or not. According to the article, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under two years old stay away from watching screens. In the letter threatening Disney with a class-action lawsuit for "deceptive advertising," public health lawyers hired by Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood cited a study which found a link between early television exposure and later problems with attention span.
For many parents, this was the most unsettling of "duh" moments, and a confirmation that nothing, when it comes to child-rearing, is as ever easy as we'd like to make it. So why were we so quick to seize on Baby Einstein videos as technological tutors?
Call it the perfect storm of parenting. Who doesn’t want to believe that there is a magical, wondrous, no-parental-guidance-required product that will turn their kids into Mensa members? The combination of our lack of time, our paranoia over our kids performance, and our faith in technology primed this generation of parents to accept the clever advertising around "Baby Einstein" as truth, just as parents before us have seized on corporal punishment, or the teachings of Dr. Spock.
Still, the idea that a caper this big could be pulled off (according to the Times, in “a 2003 study, a third of all American babies from 6 months to 2 years old had at least one 'Baby Einstein' video") is mind-boggling. Disney’s refund is about as close as we’re going to get to an actual admission that we were sold snake oil, and it casts a pall over the other "educational" toys out there.
So now what? Lose the Leapfrog? Whisk away the Wii? How do you plan on keeping (or cutting out) technology in your child's life?
