Hi All,

Up until now, my in-laws & I took turns through out the day to play with, and, lavish time & attention on my 5-month-old DS. Well, the PILs are leaving and it will only be the two of us (him & me) through most of the day. DD attends pre-K in the mornings and will be away at enrichment classes in the afternoons. DH is usually gone for most of the day and returns home very late.

I am getting worried because I will now be his only source of company during the day. In addition, I will have to deal with the cooking, cleaning, housekeeping, ferrying DD around to school & activities, feeding her meals, keeping HER entertained when she gets home etc. I am going to be REALLY busy, and spread so thin, that I am afraid that DS might not get a lot of quality time or enough attention from me. This scares me quite a bit.

Secondly, DS has been so used to spending time with someone on a one-on-basis whenever he is awake that he gets REALLY mad when he is left to his own resources. He's been spoiled rotten by all the attention that he's been getting in the past that he threw blue fits over the past couple of days when we (PILs & I) experimented leaving him to his own devices for about 10 to 15 minutes at time. I am getting REALLY scared and worried about how I'll handle him alone.

So, I would like to hear some ideas / tips from other SAHMs in a similar situation. I can cook and do some light cleaning in the early hours of the morning when everyone else is asleep, leaving the deep cleaning and major housekeeping to the weekends. However, I REALLY do not know how to keep him 'busy' during the day. I guess that is my biggest fear, actually - that he will be bored and I will be drained with trying to spend every spare moment with a small child with no rest / breaks in between!

How do you all manage to keep your babies occupied and what games / activities do you do together to combat boredom when you're stuck inside the home for hours together?

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

vanathi, i need ur opinions and suggestions desperately.
zoey has had bad congestion( nasal and i can hear a gurgling sound in her throat too)
went to paed 2ce , initially we were asked to give only saline drops.
later when it went worse he asked to put a drop each time of otrinoz baby nasal drops( max 4 times a day)
but i dont see a difference. only being earlier with saline the mucus wont even be seen in her nostrils. but now with these drops i can see some mucus and occasionally suction it out with the bulb syringe.

but she has been extremely uneasy esp at nights. day times arent really bad, but she is a night time sleeper and hence i cant see her suffer so miserably.
tried putting a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil on a cloth n place near her pillow. tried a bowl of boiling water n a couple of drop s of the oil n place nxt to her bed. but things just wont subside

doc said that her chest is clear, and that most infants of her age wld hv congestion of different grade, its just pronounced in her,
but there has to be some solution? no?

sorry for the long rant, but i really am so desperate to see her happy again

Hi all,

My son is mostly breastfed and at times he does have formula or breastmilk from the bottle.
I have tried to give him water when he started eating solids. (6 month old) He just spits it out or pushes the sippy cup away. I have pretty much everything, giving it to him in a bottle, different sippy cups, straw cups, straight from a small cup, spoon...also tried different temperatures of the water, no luck so far! This is making him constipated most of the time.

I just manage to get a couple of drops in during meal times. The max he has had is about an ounce. The Pediatrician says that it's alright as long as he is having enough breastmilk and if he is really really thirsty, he will drink. I am concerned that he still doesn't get his minimum intake of water.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

Hi all,

My 14-month-old son is refusing to eat anything for the last 4 days. But he wants only breastmilk and asks for it all the time, whenever he feels like. Today's menu was half a cake for breakfast, half a cake for lunch, and for dinner...nothing, only breastmilk. When I try to feed him anything else, he pushes away my hand or shuts his mouth tight. If I force him, he starts crying.

I have tried a variety of foods...I don't think taste is the problem here as he refuses to eat without even tasting it once. If I give him any fingerfood, he takes a bite or two and just plays with the remaining.

What do I do? I don't mind feeding him so many times, but I am worried if only breastmilk will be sufficient for him. His weight was 8.5 kg last month. Doctor said he was underwieght already. I am really really worried...Please tell me what to do...

Hi all,

I am the mom of an active 3yr old DD and 8weeks old DS. For my DD, when she was 2.5months old,i got chikungunya... after which i was sooo weak that my breast milk supply was too low. Though i pumped, was on good nutrional diet, somehow i cudnt increase the supply then. I guess my stress was the culprit then.

Now for my DS, I would like to BF him till his 1yr atleast. So far am ex-BFg him. But i sometimes feel there is no energy in store, if i manage my DD for abt 4-5hrs, and feed/change DS too... :drowning

Am wondering if i need any extra supplements from now on, so that i dont loose my breast milk supply in the later stages...

Now am on mother's horlicks one time a day, amway protien powder, half tsp once. Amway cal/mg once a day.

Eating - am on good veggie diet so far,but not sure if i wud get time to cook an elaborate veggie meal in the future too... kids wud take up all my time...

Need your suggestion ladies... :)

Hi ILs,

My 8 month old infant has running nose and fever of 37.3 celcius (99.14 farenheit). He is sneezing very frequently and is coughing sometimes. This has been lasting since day before yesterday. So, yesterday afternoon I took him to doctor. the doc said his ears are ok and his chest is clear and I shld be giving infant tylenol every 4 hrs. I gave 0.8ml tylenol to my baby yesterday evening once and night once. But fever hasn't reduced. He looks dull and dint have a proper sleep last night. This is the first time he is getting fever. Earlier, I had given him tylenol (as per doctor's advice) whenever he was given shots. Should i continue tylenol for another day or go to the same doctor or take him to emergency? I too suffered from fever for past 2 days and took tylenol. I am feeling better now but I still have cough. I am sure he got cold and fever from me. Now that I am still not totally free from cold, is it that reason my baby is not getting rid of fever? Pls pour in your thoughts.
