I had to go for my regular monthly OB appointment today. My doc is a Caucasian and we do share a nice rapport. This time though I was shocked by the questions she asked.

She told me that a few doctors have been advised not to disclose the sex of the babies in the 16 week U/S for Indian couples. She said that this has happened to her friend thrice. Once when she disclosed the sex of the baby, the Indian lady started wailing and told the doc that her husband and MIL would disown her if she had her second child also as a girl. One more lady told her clearly that she needs an abortion cos its a girl and in another case, it was the MIL who insisted that the baby had to be aborted to the american doctor in question. The doctor was so enraged that she complained to the Cops about the MIL in question and the MIL was terrified it seems. My doc wanted to know why we Indians discriminate so much against women and what is the big deal if a couple have 2 daughters?

I did my best to explain about the age old stupid beliefs in India..but I felt really really cheap and embarrassed. Here we are trying to get pregnant with such difficulty and people want a choice in kids. I really hope when we get older and become ILs, We stop such barbaric activity. I came home and cried so badly thinking about all the 16 week beautiful girls aborted and prayed that all those lives come to each of us struggling.

Am in such foul mood today. :-(

Hello,
I am starting a new thread after my "AYURVEDA" post. A brief about my life:

I am married for the past 2.5 years. We have been planning for a family since last year.

My part:
I have been diagnosed with PCOD problem and have been going on Metformin since Dec 08. Ever since I have had periods most months, until Sept 09. I weigh 59 kgs at 165 cms.
Starting Sept 09, I dint have my periods till Oct 3rd week, when my gyny put me on Primolut-N and I had my periods (with much lesser bleeding that usual) in the 1st week of Nov. I started gym-ming since Sept 1st week and I still dont know if it caused the delay in periods. (My gyny says no!)
DH part:
His SA suggested asthenospermia and he has relatively low sperm motility (~40-45). And after a series of medications and consultations, his andrologist suggested that we go for an IUI treatment.

I just met my doc today and it seems my follicular scans doesn't show any mature follicle even after taking Ciphene 100 mg from the 3rd to 7th day :(

My LH value is at 12.9 and FSH is at 6.1. It seems LH should be lesser than FSH. So she has asked me to go on Dev.... (don't understand her handwriting ;)) for getting my periods so that we could try for IUI next cycle.

Has any1 had instances of taking Ciphene and still not getting periods?
Does any1 have a similar profile of a PCO wife and asthenospemic man?

The doc was not too happy with my performance...... its not after all my fault right?! :(. She said she'll put me on some other medicines and injections next time arnd....! Its not been my day today......

Btw..... we even are taking some Ayurvedic lehyams for both our problems.... (just started this week) the Ayur doc said that it wudn't impact our allopathy treatment/medication and is more like a supplement!!
Wonder if that helps......?!

Out of great hesitation i am asking this question..could somebody let me know the procedure to calculate the luteal phase length???

While checking ovulation/fertile days, in most of the sites they ask luteal phase length..though i am able to make a rough calculation with their guidelines ..still not clear what it is exactly :bonk..Is it 14 for most of the ladies..or varies???

Why is that care should be taken during these days..especially for ladies who are in TTC??

Are fertile days and luteal phase the same ???:confused2::confused2::confused2:

Hi all,
Its such a relief to find this place at a time when one doesnt know what to do.

I am 33 years old, married for 4.5 years, have been trying to conceive for past 2 years. I have been seen a gynec and according to her, my ovaries are ok, ueterus is ok, hormones level have slight variation which is managable. No other tests are done and she suggested we go and visit a fertility expert.
DH issue:

SA report 6 months back is count= 10 million/ml, quantity=2.5 ml, motility= 10% active, non motile= 75%.

What shud be my next step? I saw a FExpert, her assistance first who has straight off said for IVF and complete no for IUI. He chekd me (my 22nd day of cycle) and says it seems dont have many eggs being formed in the basket. Shudnt he do another test at another time because I am already on the 22nd day of cycle? Shudnt there be another SA test done? HSG? my hormones tests?

How can one increase sperm motility?

what shud be my next step? I am so confused and disappointed.

regards

Dear All,

We all have discussed about many temples like Garbharakshambigai and Karuvilacheri in our threads. I wish to share about two temples. One is the temple at Thirupullani and the other one is Doddamallur. Thirupullani is one of the 108 abodes of lord Vishnu, it is believed that Dasaratha did 'Puthrakameshti Yagam' here and was blessed with 4 sons. The prasadam given here is Thirukannamadhu (Payasam, we need to ask the priest for this, we have to pay some minial amount) and they also do archanai and give Kumkum. Ladies TTC can wear this everyday and should recite 'Om Namo Narayanaya' 108 times except for the days when we have menses. The belief says that we usually succeed in 108 days. If you Google Thirupullani, you can get the route and other details.

And about Doddamallur(not sure if someone discussed about this earlier in IL), this is on the Bangalore- Mysore highway. Here lord Krishna is worshipped in the form of a small kid with Navaneetham (Butter in his hand). Once our wish succeed we have to visit the temple with the kid and complete few rituals. I have attached the Pic of Lord Navaneetha Krishnan

But everytime i need to take those siddha tonics to have my periods. Last year i switched to alopathy the doctor gave me Krimson 35 for regulating the cycle. He said it wil be regularised but it is not. He took a scan a said i have PCOD and said it there is nothing to worry as it is a common problem. He advised me to be cautious on weight. After marriage i stopped taking the pills as the doctor said i can stop if i want to conceive. But it is ever since 2 months and the cycle is not regularised. My in-laws have started questioning me and i feel so embarrased . Couldnt talk to my in-laws and my DH also doesnt want to have baby now. Donno what to do... No one to guide me on this...Please help me ... I am driven nuts on this. Will i conceive naturally. Will I become a mother :cry::cry::cry::cry:
How to track my cycle & any tips for getting periods natually without medicines?

1. Is there an alternative treatment we can go for with this - instead of an IUI? Something like Ayurveda, where some life style and diet changes can make a difference?

2. Still dont know why my periods were delayed and if its going to be fine.

3. Should I stop gymming?

4. Is there anything (like diet, life style changes or exercie) we can do to help DHs sperm motility?

Thanks a lot for ur time,

Hi Ladies,
I am a UAE resident (in Dubai) and have recently got married (Just about a month ago). Me and my husband, both are working professionals and at this time financially tight. We are also planning to go to Canada as permanent residents and have filed our applications which are under process.

For these and some other reasons we can not afford to have babies at this time. I need some advice from experienced ladies as sometimes conventional method of birth control (Condoms) are either readily not available or they don't work and neither me nor my husband knows any other birth control method.

2ndly, We had intercourse yesterday and once again my husband forgot to take any precautionary measures. Can you kindly guide me on what should I use in order to avoid conceiving "NOW" and also suggest a safe way for intercourse other than mentioned

Hi,

I want to know whether I am pregnant. I got married in May 2007 and ever since I get my periods only after taking ayurveda medicine. I stopped taking it as my husband said, your system becomes so acustomed to it that without it you will not get your periods and child. So I stopped it two months before. I am getting certain symptoms which makes me feel I may be pregnant.

they are:

1.giddyness (not whole day, it comes at all the unexpected time).
2.colourless discharge
3.vomiting sensation
4.getting tired so soon after doing even a small activity like going out in bike with my hubby to get veg.
4.small knot or boil like thing appears on around the nipple and the black spot around nipple looks bigger slightly.
5.severe acidity
6.at times I am getting severe pain on the lower abdomen.
7.I actully don't know when exactly the changes will occur for an irregular periods person, if she is really pregnant.
8. I am afraid to go to doctor, if she says I am not pregnant, my husband's big family is already after me for not getting conceived so far, will harrass me.
can somebody help me clear this doubt. Can anybody forward me the symptoms of pregnancy. I heard there is a song by some siddhar about motherwood. It goes like this "Mundram Maadham Mulai adhu Karuthu" I don't know who wrote and where.

Thanks

Dhivya.
