Planning to visit Tirumala after a very long (10 years) time.
Could get only 2 days (late November/ early December) for this program and hence the need for time saving tips/suggestions

Could any of you please provide any suggestions/hints ...

Goal: a) to have early morning Darshan at least 2 times and
b) to participate in Srivaari Kalyanothsavam 1 time.

1) What are the best 2 days of the week to do this (Saturday-Sunday or Thursday and Friday? etc)
2) What is the best place(s) to stay? (cottage - building name etc)
3) How much in advance time should we book for Kalyanam
4) What are the necessary things to carry (from the ritual point of view)
5) what are the other important things that can be done (squeezed in) within this 2 day schedule - if any
6) What are the foods/things to avoid if any?
7) What are other DOs and DONTs
8) any other useful hints/suggestions?
9) how much lead time does it need to make onward travel bookings (train/air) to Vijayawada or Rajahmundry?

I am planning for a trip to Kottayam to attend a wedding. So I thought of combining Thekkadi with the travel plans. From net I have found some places of interest. I plan to be there for three days, one day will be for wedding which is in Kottayam. I am thinking to cover Kottayam sightseeing places after wedding on the same day. Please let me know if there can be an efficient management of time. People who have been there or from Kottayam might be able to help me. Also if anyone can suggest a good place for lodging it will be helpful.

Sightseeing in Kottayam :
1.Kumarakom : Vembanad Lake; Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary; Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls.
2. Pathiramanal.
3.Marmala Stream.
4.Poonjar Palace .

Sightseeing in Thekkady:

1.Plantation Tours :Plantation Eco-Tours are arranged from the District Tourism Information Office at Thekkady jn. In Kumily.
Tours cover cardamom, pepper, coffee and tea plantations, tea factories, tribal settlements and the surrounding hill regions

2.Elephant rides :The forest Department, Thekkady offers facilities for elephant rides through the jungle.
Time : 1000 to 1700 hrs.
Duration of a trip : 30 minutes Fare : Rs. 30 per person.
Tickets are available from the wildlife information Counter

3.Trekking :Main trekking areas in Thekkady : Kurisumala near Kumily, Pullumedu, Ottakathalamedu : 5 km from Kumily, Grampi near Vandiperiyar.
The Forest Department conducts daily treks from the boat landing station at Thekkady to the Nellikkampetty area and Manakkavala.
Starting : 0700 hrs. Fare Rs. 10 + entrance fee. Booking can be made with the Wildlife Preservation Officer, Thekkady

4. The Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary: Lying close to the plantations, in the rich jungles of Periyar in Thekkady is one of the world's
most fascinating natural wildlife reserves - the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary.
Spread across 777 sq. km, of which 360 sq. km is thick evergreen forest. Entry : 0600 to 1800 hrs

5.Boat cruises on the Periyar Lake :0700, 0930, 1130, 1600 hrs.
Fare : Lower deck : Rs 25 + 10 ( entrance fee) Upper deck : 50 + 10 (entrance fee).
The forest Department conducts boating trips from Thekkady.
Entrance fee at check post. Domestic tourists Rs. 2

Can somebody throw light for few good destinations in other Southern states such as kerala,karnataka and AP

We dont have interest in theme parks...

If it is somewhere in and around Bangalore we can drive ourselves

whereas if we target kerala we should book train tickets..so require your inputs asap so that we plan leisurely
