Dear friends, This December being in Chennai, I was able to enjoy the music season, sumptuous food in the sabhas as well as the Mylapore festival. Being born and brought up in Mylapore, I enjoyed every moment of this festival. The best was the Kolam contest in North Mada street. There were many eager participants and were given 4ft x x4ft space in which they can draw their own kolam. Each one outshone the other and it would have been a tough task to judge which was the best. There was also the Pallankuzhi contest. Not to miss the food festival. One part of the festival was organised in Nageswara Rao Park. This morning was the Treasure Hunt and there were many enthusiastic participants. All walkers in this park are put to nice kucheris in the mornings. All aspiring young singers and they are too good. This festival has brought people of all walks of life together as a family. I am happy that I was one among them. Jayashree

Dear Friends, I just now returned from the Mylapore festival. I took photos of a few kolams, which I am posting below. I felt, last year there was much more festivity around & more stalls. Small eateries supplying freshly made bondas, masal vadai, onion oothappam, idiyappam, kesari were doing good business. Anyway, it was enjoyable going round - all said & done, I am a Mylaporean for the past 40+ years ! Love, Chithra.

My, my, wish I were there. At this time of my life, all my time is being spent for the family. I would have very much liked to visit the festival. But thanks to you three, I got to glimpse the festival. Lovely kolams, took me to those days when I would draw large kolams on the road.

Managed to peep in.It was really lovely.Wish they had diverted traffic and closed all the road.It was chaotic and it was really sad to see people driving their vehicles over the well drawn kolams after sometime.Kolams were really well drawn and perfect to the core.
