Doing medicine

I came across a news item.There were many vacancies in medicine.When an engineering student passes out they get a good job with a starting salary of RS.15000.But medical student passes out the starting salary is only RS.5,000 on top of it they have have study for another 5 years to be better qualified and by the time they come out of their studies they are past 30 years.Studying medicine is also very expensive.To set up a clinic also they have to spend a lump sum ,so where do our medicos stand?

Dear Kanaka,
Basically medical profession is service oriented. But nowadays people are minting money in this profession also. But this is possible only if any one of the parents or both are already in this field. So it will be advantageous only for the abobve catogory. As you have said engineering students are getting a starting salary of more than 15000 also. Hence most of the students prefer to join B.E. Further I.T. students get chance to go abroad also. Fresh doctors only with MBBS degree are not allowed to practise in foreign countries. Yet I believe that those who really want to serve humanity will not lag behind to opt for medicine.

I have seen ur message. But in reality, the software professionals only get salary of Rs.20000/ initially. All other engineers and other professionals are not getting like this. our I A S and I PS too. But doctor profession is very noble one. Now the software field is going well. if any changes occured, the software professionals will not fit for any other job. But other engineers , doctors etc.,services are not like the software professionals job. their services are very essential to the society. so don't measure the doctor profession with other software engineers in terms of money. so be happy in t he essential service

I totally agree with Vennila.... Doctor's profession is noble... They do service for the people... Software professionals are earning well because there is a boom in the IT industry... But it can go down at any time, if a recession comes in US by the end of this year.... Then there will be a lot of S/w people without job... They will find it extremely difficult to get jobs... the students who pass out and come during an IT fall time, will find it difficult to start a career....But other professions are not like that....
