Degree evaluation for Applying in US universities

I am on h1 and am trying to take up MS . i have GRE and planning to take IELTS (as advised by the univ) .
Am facing a problem here : the univ wants my degree (Btech) to be evaluated by an agency. that agency is asking me to send Sealed envelope containing copies of my transcripts attested by the Registrar of my undergrad college.

they are strict on this. They are not accepting any notarized copies of my transcripts. What do i do ?

Since i have no plans of going to india now or for another 1 year. am stuck. My parents are not in the same city , they cant travel as well.

How did you people manage this ? any suggestions or ideas ?

Ranchu, I donot know which agency you have approached. A few years ago, I got my credentials evaluated by WES and they didnot ask for anything.

No i have no response from my College in india (its a govt college and you know how it works there) . Since my parents are not in the same city of my college its tough for me to get this document.

Yes thats correct , I tried through WES and they are asking for Sealed envelope containing copy of my marksheets. What did they ask for you ? as in, What documents did you send to WES ? Could you please share the info for me.

Am really pi**ed off & upset ,that this one thing is holding me back , I was quite excited that schools near my place have evening classes and online courses which would be convenient for me. Please help .

I had sent in just my marks card, the degree certificate and also self addressed, postage paid envelope - I got course by course evaluation done and no I didnot get them signed by registrar. But all this was a while ago - about 5-6 years. I suggest you speak with someone and see what you can do about it.

Also the other thing you can do is approach the universty you are interested in - the graduate studies deparment and ask them for evaluation. Most Univ will have international student evaluation centers and they can also help you. Some colleges might even evaluate internally. This is also an option.

Yes as you said , they might have accepted 5 yrs before. But now , they are enforcing on sending attested copies. And am not interested in sending my originals to them. If they loose even one then it will be a serious problem.

Anyway, I have asked the Graduate admission advisor if she will accept evaluation from an attorney ( i had done this for my H1 application). If she accepts ,then i'll send her a sealed evaluation directly from my attorney.
