Default Regarding my Career

Hi I am Rekha,

I have a particular issue.
In all my educational certificate and in experience certificate I have got my fathers name as initial (ie)Rekha R.

As I took the passport after marriage my husbands name is included as Surname in Passport as Rekha Muthukumar.
Now I had a serious issue with this.
Will it create any issue for me as I apply for an H1B visa from US embassy.
Becoz in US the surname is given very importance.
Will u anyone please help me regarding this issue.
I am confused very much.

Dear Rekha,

Welcome to IL. No the different surnames should not create any problems. As long as the compnay that sponsors you for the H1 B visa , gives your correct name as it is in your Passport.
You maiden name ( that is your name before marriage ) , does not matter for the Visa application. Just make sure that the Visa application is in your present name , that is Rekha Muthukumar.
It is most Important, that the name on your passport and the name on your H1B application match.

Hope this helps.

Hi Rekha,

Gosh it has been a very long time when I applied for mine. As much as i remember there is a section in the application that asks if you went by any other name and if so explain. So you can List your maiden name (your dad's last name). But the name you are currently using should be the same as the one that your employers know you by and as the one which is on your passport.
