creative writing

hi.
my daughter is in 3rd grade.i want her to improve her creative writing skills.i want suggestions from u ladies .in wat waycan i help,wat is that i need to do
r there any websites .thank u.

Hi, Though I am single, and not much experienced in bringing up children. I still believe I can reply to this post because I know how my parents made me inclined towards creative writing. Also I have a friend who is very good in creative writing and I have seen him the way he hone his skills. Let me stop my purana and come to the core of the topic.

• Motivate your child to read, This can be done by reading him/her a lot of variety of books.
• Take regular visits to the Library to teach him/her the value of reading and the benefits of getting friendly towards good books.
• Now u have a major role in understanding the kind of books he/she enjoys reading
• Now Inspire him to read books of the kind he loves to read(Dont insist on the book what u want them to read
• Now you motivate your child to write something on the topics he likes. Just be an example to him by you writing something on the topics you as a parent like and read it aloud for him and ask his views. It would be appreciated if you that write something that is opposite of what the child wants to write
• Tell them that they'll come back and edit later. Let them allow their ideas to flow, dont intervene.
• When they feel they are finished just read it aloud for them and ask them to fill in their feelins and then pass your healthy reviews.

Dear Padyala,

Make her feel comfortable that even if she goes wrong you are there to guide her. Meet her teacher to c how they teach and in in what format . Practice makes a man perfect. Make her practice everyday.

Ask her to read lot of books. This will definetely help her.

Give her a topic( which she really likes) everyday & ask her to write about that topic .

say 1. ur fav festival
2. ur school
3. 10 sentences about ur mother or father

Hi Padyala,
My kids are both grown up now. However, when my kids were 5 years of age, my hubby was transferred to a remote place (read village) in one of the most backward states of North India. Then I was very much worried about my kids about how they would cope up with the other kids when we would get back to Chennai. In fact, we didn’t even get a proper school there. I was very much worried about their English standard too. I wanted them to be as proficient as the Chennai kids or Bombay kids in all the subjects generally and in English particularly. So I started subscribing to all the kids magazines which were available in India such as Gokulam from Chennai, Tinkle from Bombay etc. And whenever I visited Chennai during the vacations, I used to take them to the bookshops like Higginbotham’s and buy a lot of books according to their age and interest. My kids too started developing some sort of interest in reading them and gradually they became very proficient and creative in writing English. I would daily ask them to write what they feel after reading a story. Sometimes I would ask them to read only half a story and finish the story by themselves on paper and then compare with the original ending. Sometimes I showed them only a picture and asked them to write a story or whatever thought comes into their minds after seeing that picture. By all these ways they automatically started thinking and writing creatively. Now I am very proud of my kids. My son is into creative writing and he maintains his own blogs, writes technical reviews, poems and still he hasn’t stopped reading.

When I could achieve this sitting in a remote area that too some 15-16 years back without all these technological advancements, I think anybody can do it now in this net savvy world.

even though i am not in india to subscribe for the magazines.
as i am in US.here there r libraries ,i have started to make her practice to read some books of her choice&write some stories about it.

I had a spark in my mind. You can also suggest the child to write a note on her activities, memoirs and events on a daily basis in a notebook. This will for sure improve her writing skills....I believe
