recently the cost of tuar dal is going up nd has marked upto rs 100 per kg..so we cudnt use it daily for sambar,dhal curry etc etc...so try this rasam recipe nd giv Fb.. Kulith Rasam (horse gram gravy) ---------------- ingredients: horse gram-1 tab sp full tuar dal-1tsp pepper seeds-1 tsp coconut scrapings-3 tab sp cashmiri chillies-5 nos coriander seeds-1 1/2 tsp tamarind extact salt Procedure: fry seperately 1st 3 ingredients in a pan adding 2 drops of oil. fry coconut scrappings,corriander seeds,red chillies together till it becomes dry. put all the fried ingredients in a blender, powder first,then grind to a smooth paste adding sufficient water. pour this mixture in a vessel,add 3 cups of water to dilute,tamarind extract,salt nd bring it to boil. season with mustard,jeera nd curry leaves nd put on top of rasam. u will get aromatic tasty rasam.
hi leela My MIL used to make this rasam but with out coconut .I will certainly try this method and will give FB.
