U Hi, Not sure if everyone likes it, but I love to have semiya upma with just plain sugar... That too I sprinkle the sugar when upma is hot and keep it aside. I have the upma when it cools to room temperature. Give it a little shake or stir just before having it. The sugar just melts and spreads evenly making it very tastey. There is a difference in doing like this than having upma immediately with sugar. Other than sugar you can have it with tomato or chilly sauce as well. I just love to eat it with tomato thokku. I like to have semiya upma with sugar and banana slices.. I like to have it hot with sugar melting on top and thin banana slices per serving.. yummy..
Semiya Upma tastes good with curd raita also (onions, green chillies, coriander leaves and grated carrot).
I love hot semiya upma with sugar sprinkled over it.... since I stopped using sugar, I have it with a piece of jaggery ;-) I also like it with thick curd and a bit of pickle.
