Ingredients Raw rice - 2 cups Thick poha(aval) - 1/2 cup Urad dal - 1/4 cup Fenugreek - 1/2 tsp. Soak and grind everything smoothly with less water. Let it ferment overnight. For sweet aapam: melt jaggery with little water, strain and add to the batter. For coconut aapam: add coconut scrapings and salt to the batter . If required can add water to the batter to get the right consistency. I have tried this many times with no yeast or coconut milk. Try and update
Hi! Do we have to grind the Coconut and add with the aappam batter? Do you make the aappam in the Appakadai or on Tawa? Mine is not coming in kadai like how they make in hotels. It sticks to the kadai and get burnt.
Hi viji, No need to add coconut while grinding. The aval will make it spongy and soft. I prepare in a iron tawa. Try it in a non stick. Do not make in a stainless steel kadai,it Will definitely get burnt
