Post Apple and date balls

Apple and date balls

500 gm large apples
50 gm dates (stoned and chopped)
½ cup apple juice
½ tsp cinnamon powder
¼ cup walnut kernels (finely chopped)

Halve the unpeeled apples, remove cores and place in a large heavy bottomed pan. Add dates, apple juice and ground cinnamon. Cook over very low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture forms a dry paste. Remove into a bowl and let cool.

Roll the mixture into bite sized balls. Place walnuts under a hot grill. Toast until golden. Coat the balls in the nuts. Store in an airtight container. Note: Cooking apples are best used for this recipe. You can substitute pears for apples too.
