That mild word 'Awesome' when expressed by you has assumed awesome prowess. Thanks a ton, Sowmya.

Somehow God made me a receiver in this birth. I have been receiving lots and lots of gifts from lots and lots of persons without caring even to repay a millionth part of them. So I thought at least I will record my debt so that God can get it from me at least in my next birth. Hence this entry.

Dear Meenu,
A pertinent question. I gave the print-out of my entry on 17th March, my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary.
But I had omitted to print out the last page of the entry. In a way it was good. Because Dad was emotional that day.
Then on 18th I gave the remaining page. In our family we are known for not showing our emotions. So true to that image Dad remained very calm after reading the print out.
I asked him, "Did you read it fully?" He replied."Yes, I did." in a matter of fact tone. So thats it.

Thanks a lot. Everybody's life is full of blessings, Anjana. When we have the proper perspective it appears as a blessing. But when our vision is not all right it appears as a punishment.
In my case both these blessings first appeared as burdens. But later only they got transformed into blessing when I set my vision right.

Thanks for your kind wishes for me to win future contests. My preference is rather to win over the hearts of my readers.

Thanks for those kind words. Yes you are right. The kind of love and affection we saw in poverty and need, we are not able to see in affluence.

My father did not have anything else but my welfare in his mind when he made those gifts to me. That makes the gift even more precious.

The two thirukkurals you are referring to are

தந்தை மகற்காற்று நன்றி அவையத்து
முந்தி இருப்பச் செயல்.

மகன்தந்தைக்கு ஆற்றும் உதவி இவன்தந்தை
என்நோற்றான் கொல் எனும் சொல்.

The fathers duty is to make his son stand first in any gathering of people.

And the son's reciprocation is to make other says, "What penance did his father do to beget such a son."

My father has done his part. I am yet to do mine.

Dear Jothi,

Thanks a lot for your post. In fact I was able to give a print-out of my entry to my Dad on his 50th wedding anniversary. Of course I had missed out a page which I gave the next day. True to his nature my father did not say anything. He just said good. I know his mind. If he starts to talk he is likely to break down emotionally. I left it at that.

Now Jothi one thing is puzzling me. I clearly remember to have left a reply here. But it is not there. In fact my browser even prompted the heading which means the title has been used before.
