| Hi all.I am glad my message got shortlisted....feels like a winner.... Here, I share my thoughts with u all.... WHAT WOULD U GIFT? <HR style="COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1>Hi..This is the first time I am trying my hand in a writing contest..well,I have a few thoughts I would like to share.Pls make corrections. WHAT WOULD U GIFT UR 80 YEAR OLD FATHER? I think what old parrents need cannot b bought from stores. They just need LOVE N ATTENTION of their family. Time spent together is BETTER than the GIFT itself. Whenever I can, I will try to spend a few days with him.And will ask my other siblings to visit him on those days.We will fix him his favourite light meals n freeze them. so whenever he feels he can enjoy them by heating them in the microwave. We will collect his favourite family snaps in an album and gift it to him,so that he can cherish them when v r faraway from him.And if vision is still in good condition, yearly subscribtion of a good reading material won't b a bad idea. Gift him with prepaid phone cards,so he can call his family n friends whenever he likes without worrying about the cost. Will try to arrange for fruits n flowers for a whole year on monthly basis. Will arrange for a car n a driver so that he can enjoy a ride when he feels like. As I live here in Gulf I always try to keep in touch with telephone calls n try to send kids snaps so that he too can feel a part while they r growing.. |

| Hi everyone, I am elated to know that my entry was shortlisted and am very happy for meeta for winning this contest. This is the first time am writing for a contest and it gives me a moral boost to be among the 7 shortlisted entries. Am a daughter living away from parents and miss being there for them and that's why thought that there can be nothing more precious than our time with each other. As requested am posting my entry here and also eagerly waiting to read Meeta's. The entry for the contest was........ I think gifting your time to your father is the most precious of all gifts. I would like to pledge my time to him and assure him that I would be there for him at all times. Knowing that, would give him immense security as at that age many parents are insecure. It is also my way of giving back to my loving father for all the times he has been there for me in my growing up years. I believe material things are of least importance at that age and they would cherish every moment they spend with their children and grand children and the feeling of being loved is all that they look forward to. regards Jyothi |
