I have been married for 10 years and I live with my DH and in-laws. Every morning, I and my DH brush our teeth, come downstairs and plant our pretty bottoms on the couch in the living area. At this time, my 75 year old, arthritic MIL walks out of the kitchen with a tray that has 2 cups of tea for me and my DH. So far I have no complaints. I must admit here that while my MIL wasted a Ph.D in Applied Physics from some university in England (Oxwood I think) to raise a wonderful family, I am a working woman. And according to Episode 84/Season 25 of Oprah originally aired on June 20, 2004, a working woman deserved to be pampered.

However, here comes my problem. Each day, she hands the first cup over to my DH. At first, I did not pay attention. After a while, it started getting to me. But being the broad minded individual that I am, I attributed it to the fact that my DH always sat at the end of the Couch that was closer to the kitchen. Based on advice I got on another online forum, I switched positions with my DH and started sitting closer to the kitchen. My MIL’s behavior hadn’t changed as I was made to believe. As the advice I got on the other forum did not yield desired results, I am here seeking your wise counsel. How do I deal with this? Do I

1. Talk to my DH alone?
2. Talk to my MIL alone?
3. Sit both DH and MIL down and have a chat with both of them?
4. Should I involve my 80 year old FIL who is recovering from a recent by-pass surgery?

Though the issue may sound mundane to some of you, it is causing me sleepless nights. I can not concentrate at work. I have even put off planning a family with such unresolved issues with my ILs. I hope you can guide me through this and save me the trouble of looking for other online forums.

PS: If it is of any significance, people in college used to call me a drama queen behind my back. I suspect people at work do the same.
