I have already booked in the drivin test for nov 6th. Point is - I have to get a Victorian licence within 3 months of my arrival here. Nov 9th is 3 months. So I booked it in September. October I gave my written and hazard perception. The earliest I could get was Nov 6th for drivin test - as you said 2 months. Now there is only a 5% chance I will have the papers from blr on time. I am thinkin I will still go and give it a shot. No idea how to go about with it!

And 19 years exp! Wow, he sure must be a geek

And your trips sound awesome, we saw bush fire stricken area near wilson's prom. I am so used to takin pics of the plush green backgroun that this burnt setta trees came to me as a thorough shocker! Can't imagine even getting caught in one of it! And your interests are very similar to mine! Probably I am inching more towards that after seeing my geek hubby

Your muffins sound yummy! And yup on driving on steep and narrow roads. I wouldn't have been able to drive with that much noise. I would probably have given one big yell and driven in peace.

PS: Last time - while going to cape schanck, I guess I drove a 30m on the wrong side too - thought it was a divided road, apparently it was 2 way! Scary na !!

They need a letter saying it is valid from India. In India they are saying - we will not sign on any form from this Australian office (We got a form from Indian consulate to be signed). So anyway, I believe I can take my test now and produce the form later, if I don pass (god forbid) I have to start with L again So much so for drivin!

Hi Pratim
I live in SE suburbs. It is an advantage to go for the driving test on a weekday, at Frankston and Dandenong. You have better chance to pass. Do you live here somewhere? Any ways, best of luck!!!!

Heyy All
Just had my shower and sitting with a towel tied on my head.
More new people here....yayyyy...Hello Bagya! Tell us about you.

Pratim - Those ads on drink driving, speed kills, quit smoking ones etc are superb ones. They really make a huge impact on the viewers. In general I am pretty bad at associating the ads with the product and keep pestering my hubby trying to find out what it all means. Of course there is this famous Yellow Pages ad with the lady shouting at her assistant "NOT HAPPY JAN!" for delaying to put the company ad on yellow pages directory. That statement is part of the lingo now.

Neev - My friend had been to Warburton over the weekend and they drove back via Kinglake. She too mentioned how disturbing it was to see the charred trees everywhere. Must have been quite an episode to encounter. What do you mean if I am a typical Capri ?? I do not know what the typical traits are to be honest. Have read somewhere long ago and maybe a few would fit perfectly with me. Again I am not sure if that is how I am or am I making and convincing myself that is how I am ?? ........ Well, when we all do meet once, do not forget to bring a few muffins as well. How are your sons keeping Neev?

Driving on the wrong side - that reminds me of how I failed my first attempt. Did the same thing. It never occured to me that the line was an undivided one and could be a two way. No vehicles coming in the opposite direction and I moved lanes with the idea of turning right at the end of the T junction! It was so easy to drive and change lanes, only to hear my instructor and examiner saying " Sorry love, we need to pull over RIGHT NOW! The test is over". I had no idea what went wrong and everything seemed so perfectly right in my head. My driving instructor then explained to me and I burst into tears. I felt so stupid. Everyday prior to the exam, I had been taking that route and never made that error........mmmmm......well it is all a learning experience. Took me 2 years to get over the disappointment.

I was a bit too early to name Pratim alone isn't it...well so we have techies here and two Queens of Enthunesssssssss.

Sruthu - How are you? How is the baby doing? Which days do you work?

Preciousssssss - Ennama panrey? Kannada nanige gothhilla

LOL.. I literally rolled reading your last line, there was this friend of mine who used to claim she knew many languages - she only knew how to say "i know to speak" in all languages! She managed well!

Your driving episode is funny! I dono if you were serious when you said you burst out cryin, I just hope I dont! And bagya - SE suburbs too! Thanks for wishing me. Mine is at frankston. Now I have to let you all know if I cleared or not! Pressure hehe

Neev - any drivin episodes? Have you noticed - those maps and roundabouts - many a places they are misleadin! What map do you people follow?

Precious - How many jobs do you apply for in a day? And sruthu - kid keeping you busy? Subaby - When do you start work?

Pratim, I use a GPS with the whereis maps downloaded on it....before i start i do chk whereis so tht i have a rough idea of any tricky routes....mooroolbark has one such tricky roundabout...well actually its 3 roundabouts in quick succession...and until I mastered it, I was looking around and indicating like crazy
In and around my area its all pretty ok no tricky ones...to get onto the west gate freeway I avoid the city coz I am unsure of the hook turns...I have not had a driving blooper here so far...but had plenty in hong kong, when I first converted my Indian licence there, tht was many moons ago.... and no pressure Pratim...its got more to do with luck not your driving capabilities...
Precious yenge ni??
K2S...towel chutti nadekenda, coldu pidikum..(like my mum sez)
I finished with my plants part 1...got some rambling roses, some chilli and basil (love thai food), some daisies, succulents and a few dark foliaged leafy variety for the outer edges..lets hope they all end up growing....
Hello Subaby and Shruthu...hope you guys are doing well...Bhagya warm welcome...like K2S said lets hear more about you...

Helloooooooooooooo

K2S - Even i am not gud in speaking Kannada chechi. I was helping my friend to finish an assign, sorry culdnt reply. Yday DH had office so it was like a normal weekday. I watched the race in channel 7. It was gud to see the ppl with different types of hat. I had prepared beans parupusli, drumstick sambar, paruppu rasam, appalam and carrot kheer for Sat dinner. Ur narration abt the driving test is funny, culdnt control . It took 2 yrs??? OMG. Very sad abt ur betting, hope u win next time.

Pratim - Applied for two jobs. How abt u? I miss Indian ads. At times when i am bored i watch Indian ads in youtube. Some ads take us to our gud old school days. All the best for ur driving test.

Neev - Itho inge!!!!Seems to be a busy week for you. Great trips! Ur reply to one of the posts shows how much interest u have in make up also shows ur patience in typing such a big reply. I have zero knowledge on this.

Sruthu - Welcome to the club. Hows ur lit felo doing? Wht rhymes are u learning now?

Bagya, Subaby - How are you?

A big hello to all of you

K2S i work 2-3 days a week generally.Yes,she is quite a handful and keeps me busy

Precious--yes I have learnt a lot of rhymes.A friend was joking saying that we have no interest to learn all these rhymes as kids but are learning when we teach our kids.

Neev, need to take some tips from you on gardening.have planted some silverbeet and capsicum seeds and an eggplant seedling as well.Someone told me that it was a bit too late in the season to be planting seeds. What is your opinion.

Pratim I do enjoy playing with her mostly but she does get quite naughty at times..The terrible twos are approaching!!

So ungalukk ellam sirippu varuda on my driving story ....mmmm.....siringe siringe......ennudaya kashtam only I know

Sruthu.....one thing about silverbeet. It grows like a weed, so maybe contain it in a huge pot. My cousin has silverbeet at her place and we always get one big bag full of fresh leaves to cook. It is great though.

Neev...quite a good pick from the nursery. actually something interesting is happening at our home. We have a big pot with curry leaves/kariveppila. Been doing good so far and have not replanted it on the ground, with the fear of losing the plant altogether. Recently noticed that Tulsi is growing in the same pot!! I have no idea how that happened. We did have a pot next to this with Tulsi (holy basil) but it did not survive and we lost every tiny spec of that plant. Been several months in fact and now all of a sudden found a tiny sapling in the curry leaves pot. Was a pleasant surprise. We don't plan on dislodging that too. If they both survive in the same pot, then good.

Precious dear, quite a spread of meals there. Super ma nee. Pratim, do not worry and no pressure from us. You will be fine gal, I know it.

Today I am not yet sure what to cook. Off now to have my breakkie. C ya later.
