Yeahhh and I feel like Cindrella now. Kamalji, the Indus Man just visited my thread :)
Kamalji, you made my day. Its nice to know that you feel like Krishna among Gopi's here :). I agree with you when you say that Il is a place to make friends. I have made a few good friends here and have even met soem of them too.
As far as asking my husband to join - he and I are totally North and south poles ( guess its anither reason why we stay tightly bound)
While I'm an avid reader, my husband would Poo Poo me if I asked him to spend any of his "non working " hours on reading anything which did not include "Cricket" - be it the print or the electronic media. No offence meant here - He is just a BIG cricket fanatic :) I however, do take time to read these blogs and sometime even read some of them aloud to him :))

Dear Kashvya
Your ID sounds like Kavya with a lot of Cash!
You have indeed raised an interesting point there and I see that Kamalji has stolen a march over me as usual. He describes himself as Krishna surrounded by gopikas in IL. That makes me his elder brother, the grouchy and serious Balarama! Don't ask me how I know that Balarama is grouchy. That's how he was shown in a popular Tamil film of yester years, Maya Bazaar in which he acted as the grouchy Balarama, the elder brother of ever smiling N.T.Rama Rao as Krishna as usual !
But I can't understand one thing. While I appreciate men's reluctance to have anything to do with a predominantly women's website like IL, how is that they read magazines like Femina with the same gusto as their wives? Your DH may not read them but I know a lot of men who do. Maybe it is due to the fact that IL is not packaged as attractively as some of the women's magazines with attractive pictures and what have you!
I was brought to IL by Sunkan who used to be an avid member in IL. Initially, it was like the famous 'Thikku teryada kaadu!" and I spent a few 'directionless' days. Then I realised that Senile Ramblings never would need any direction or purpose and got into my job! I confine myself mostly to Good to read Section and the Blogs. As Kamal has rightly pointed out, there are a number of prolific writers here who can put to shame the Booker Prize winners and they keep me glued to the site.
The tears of women here are not caused by their DHs but by their MILs mostly, an area where I am not competent to offer any advices. I enjoy my being a member of IL. No infra dig for men here!
Sri

Dear Kashvya,
I need to first thank the inimitable Egyptian Queen for pointing out to this thread. And the second thanks goes to you. My response to your posers would be such that if your DH happens to read that, he would become an ILite in no time.
With accountants habits die hard. And one of my addictive habits is a point by point reply, whether it is my wife asking about something or the Commissioner of Income Tax questioning the tax returns I have prepared for my client. So here you go. How did you come to be a part of IL? Everybody thinks that I have come here to write stories. But even before I came my story came in. I have told that a hundred times. But for Kashvya, I will tell again.
One day in 2005 when IL as just a 45 day old child, I was googling my pen name Varalotti. One of the links landed straight here in IL. I was surprised to see one of my stories The Promise being posted by an ILite called Shakthi. I immediately became a member and started responding to the queries. Soon I posted my story The Scar. In June with just about 100 members (we are about 40000 strong today) Induslady announced the first ever contest in IL - the best poster contest. My story with about 100 plus views got the first prize.
The rest, they say, is history.
I have 7000 plus postings today. IL is my home, the repository of all my writings, the only place in the web where you can read my writings. Other sites invited me to write for them. I politely declined.
In short, Kashvya, I am proud to be a part of IL. How has your experience been so far. Ecstatic. Exciting. thrillling. Wonderful. Beautiful. Marvellos. I have exhausted almost all the words without describing the experience to my satisfaction. What do you think of some of the very girlie discussions that happen here ? I have myself started many girlie discussions like gossipping, affairs, frustration, teenage crushes etc. What about the soul stirring threads on tearful wives and dominating husbands? I have started many such discussions here in IL. What about the "IL" - In Law tussle topics that get discussed here in length?
Many of my threads are there in the In-Laws forum. I remember to have even posted a fullfledged story on mil-dil relationship. Have you had a fair share of the beauty and general health tips ? I posted a three-part series on Beauty Tips from an accountant. Just read it when time permits. The cookery section - Are the Nala's in you in limelight at home already? Pass. My cookery knowledge is confined to boiling hotwater and nothing more than that. And the ultimate thing... I wrote a fifteen-part serial, a full-length novel on IL called Love All. I borrowed the characters and incidents from IL. Just think how much I would have impacted me if I had decided to write a novel on it?
Have all the questions been answered? If not, let me know.
love,
sridhar

Hi Kashvya,
Hope you dont mind me posting here in your thread addressed to all the IL-men. My husband is like yours too. He surfs the net a lot of various reasons, mainly for his work. He surely thinks that I misspend my time when I am on IL. He knows not the wealth of information that is available here.
Very nice thread that you have started.
Jothi.

Jothi. | Hi jothi, I would not mind at all :)
My husband loves surfing the net too and he has read a few articles which I had ear marked for him. While he doesn't mind my spending my time in IL ( in fact once or twice, after I've tried out a few of our dear Chitvish's recipes, he encouraged me to try on further), he may not been a full fledged participant of this forum.
I now have an idea - I'm going to urge him to join in . What do u say?
