Short visit to Coimbatore - need tips for things to do.

Dear Friends,

I'm heading to coimbatore this weekend.
My husband is attending a conference there and while he is busy at work, I've time to go around.
Can somebody suggest me what I shld look for in Coimbatore?
Is there anythign specific I shld look for - shopping, interesting places, etc.
what is this place famous for?
speciality of coimbatore , etc.

I have visited these places when I had been to Coimbatore a year back.

Marudhamalai Temple - about 10 to 15kms from the railway station, dedicated to Lord Subramanya and it's a hilltop temple

V O C Park - There is a mini-zoo and joy train in this park (you may want to try if your daughter would enjoy!)

Black Thunder - Water theme park in the Ooty - Mettupalayam road
It is an amusement part with several water games (again it's for your daughters interests)

Hill Stations - We also visited hill stations like ooty, kotagiri and coonoor. You can go by train via mettupalayam and it is very scenic.

For shopping, you can go to Shree Lakshmi Towers in Mettupalayam road. Very famous 4-storey shopping place. Beware, this city is a bit costly!

From Coimbatore we had driven down to Munnar - which is scenically very beautiful.
Coimbatore is famous for sweets - Mysorepa at Krishna sweets and sarees.
