What do Indian women think of Western women wearing sarees?

Hello all,
I am an expat wife living in Hyderabad and I have purchased 2 sarees for myself. I will certainly buy more since I love the look of them. My question is "What do Indian women think when western women wear sarees?" Do we look silly, nice, foolish, out of place? Does it make you smile or groan?

Obviously if the saree isn't wrapped properly it won't look nice no matter who is wearing it. But I was wondering what the general opinions were.

Oh, I'm not desperate at all. I've already worn one of my sarees out to dinner and I plan to wear the 2nd one sometime soon.

I was just wondering what people thought. That's all. And I'd wear my sarees out regardless of what people think, although if good advice/tips are offered I will probably heed that advice.

I don't have any good tips or advice (I'm am amateur saree-wearer myself), but I think it is an incredible garment, and I've yet to see anyone in a saree look odd or out of place. It's such a festive item of clothing. So, my answer would be, I smile when I see a non-Indian person wearing a saree, and it makes me proud to claim such a beautiful aspect of culture as my own. Enjoy your saree-buying and wearing

Thanks dear. Definitely you get a cute look on Saree. Perhaps saree was originated from Europe (Italy, Greece). I saw western women look elegant on Saree. Keep up.

Sarees look good on anyone who wears it with dignity.
When you wear a saree the way your walk alters and that is what makes the saree wearer look beautiful.
It is not who wears it but how. Go for it girl
