I heard in Kanchipuram there is a special place where they will do the stone work, especially in any design we ask for. That too in a very short time.. Does any one know about these?

Sruthi & Deepa, I did similar work on my reception saree but I was told that they don't use glue but a special machine presses the stone in the saree... If glue is used, there will be some of it spilling over the sides of the stone right? There were none like that in my saree and blouse. Since I got the saree from RMKV, they did the work. Just wanted to clarify if my understanding is correct or not.

Yes lalitha you are correct, even i heard that the stones will be pressed using a gun like machine , with that they can put any design less than 30 mins..

Wow.... First time i'm hearing this technique.... :)

I have done this stone work manually only....

If anybody knows, please let me know where exactly this work is being done ???

Also, if we do this work manually , it will be good only.... But this will take some time..... :bonk

    Hi All

I went to Kanchipuram last week end and saw the stone work done on silk sarees. They are doing excellent designs. I saw one in pallu , the Lord Krishna design, 2 peococks. The stone is fixed by a gun shot so it wont fall normally or by tearing, also the glue is not visible at all.

I have ordered one. Once it is done i will post the pictures..
