Default Losing my cooker...HELPPPPPPPPPP !

Hiiiiiiiiii,

I made Khoya yesterday using my pressure cooker (5 hrs) as that is the hard bottomed vessel I have got, now I am fainting seeing the stains. Its so hard from bottom to all sides. I see some threads for usual cleaning tips of adding tamarind/lemon everyday etc, but I need to completely clean the mess I created and only then I can use it for cooking today

There are some with vinegar/B.soda, but same time there are comments like vinegar is not so advisable.. Pls pour in suggestions..

I will have to clean and then start cooking

Sowmya,

What is this cooker bottom made of? Is it anodized, non-stick, aluminum or stainless steel?

If you don't want to take chances with adding vinegar/baking soda etc...then add some hot water and let it rest for 30min. Then try cleaning it with a sponge.

All the best! Let us know the outcome.

Cheers

Sowmya, if it is anodized, then no problem. Soak it in hot water..the surface can withstand it..use the plastic scrubber or the scotch-brite blue sponge (no scratch surface)

Hey Krithika,

Finally I did it :)

But used up almost everything to clean... Soaked it with hot water-vinegar for a while. Then sprayed Oven cleaner spray. Then used Hot water-Baking powder soak for a while. Finally its clean, But has to use spoon to jerk of the tough stains, as my scrub is too soft. Managed to finish it without much scratching. Now its like 99% done. Planning to cook with Tamarind/lime so that I can bring it back to complete normalcy. :)

Amywos:
You can also clean off burned on stuff in a pan by covering the burned part with sufficient depth of Coca Cola and then boiling it. Just for future reference.
