Default question on maintaing apartment

hi
need some tips on maintaining the apartment...
ours is a carpet flored 2 bedroom apartment..
lately, i have been seeing some black stains starting to showup in the carpets..
has anyone faced it.
i just want to keep everything clean, to avoid any huge fines from management..
please provide your tips for maintaining the apartment..do you hire professional cleaner once in a while to clean the apartment?

u will see these stains mostly near the entrances / kitchens. generally caused by shoes bringing in dirt from outside and or kitchen dirt that gets stuck to the feet and then rubbed off on the carpet. here is what to do.

1. get resolve carpet cleaner from walmart. the one with a brush on top off the can works really well.

2. try to limit shoes to the entrance area only.

3. place some area mats / rugs in the areas where the spots appear the most. then the rugs will get dirty rather than the carpet and can be washed / replaced.

4. once a year, hire a steam vacuum from your local grocery store and steam vacuum the entire apt.

Hi,

You won't be fined by management but will be penalized at the time of vacating. However, depending on where you live, you may never see 100% of your deposit returned, even if you keep a sparkling clean home.

Pooja has given you some wonderful tips. Another thing I would suggest is to clean up your apartment as soon as it gets dirty - as in, to not wait until the stain gets ground in. Fresh stains are ALWAYS easier to clean up than dried, in-ground ones. Steam-cleaning once a year works very well but if you are a little wary of doing it yourself, you can always hire professional carpet cleaners. Also, to clean your patio / garage, you can do an annual power-wash. The results are AWESOME!
