Hi,

Years back, we used to send used pants to Calcutta where we get them back as saree bags . And yes, Saree bags and Blouse Bags are very useful to keep it in the ironed form. I use a saree bag to keep my kurtas too . It is available in all bag shops in and around NSC Bose Road, Sowacarpet. Infact, it is a part of the wedding torsseau there!

Cheers
Arch

I got my saree bag in Kanchi Palace close to Ratna Stores in Pondy Bazaar for Rs.250. Its made of cloth with 6-7 partitions each made of a thin cloth with zips. This is to ensure that the jari or the work on one saree does not directly rub with the work on other saree as I heard from one shop keeper that the jaris will either go bad or will blacken when they are stacked and keep rubbing with each other. I have also made simple bags using my old soft cotton duppatas to store my wedding and other costly sarees. Once in every 3 months, I air them out inside the house and fold them in the opposite way and store them. Mine doesn't have a blose bag :(
