Household Tips
1. Create a system for filing important papers; have individual file folders labeled for separate categories & place them in one central location.
2. Drain running slow - Grease - Pour 1 cup of salt, 1 cup baking soda, than a pot of boiling water. Or add 1/2 cup baking soda with 1 cup vinegar. Mixture will foam, then run hot water.
3. Use a toothbrush to clean a grater.
4. Citric fruit rinds will remove grease spots from oven tops.
5. Rub Alum powder on jari work of a saree to regain its shine back.
6. Rusty curtain Rings - Dip it in hot vinegar for two hours.
7. Clean combs by dipping them for a while in a solution of washing soda and warm water.
8. If gum dries up, add a little vinegar and stir.
9. Wipe the blades of greasy knives with a peeled lemon .
10. Keep the refrigerator free of odors by placing a tsp. of soda bicarb in a corner of the fridge.
11. If glasses are stuck together, keep them in the fridge and they will separate easily the next day.
12. Keep a few pens and a pad handy at all times hanging next to your telephone.
13. Always spray your grill with non-stick cooking spray before grilling to avoid sticking!
14. Heat the frying pan before adding oil or butter. It's will serve the purpose of non stick & will prevent food from sticking.
15. Have a calendar in a central location to write all important dates, appointments, meetings & special Occasions.
16. Use peanut butter to remove chewing gum from carpets. Smear peanut butter on gum to loosen.
17. Clear nail polish - A good emergency glue for small items like stamps, recipe clippings, etc.
18. A knot in a jewelry chain - Lay the chain on a flat surface and, with the help of a straight pin in each hand, gently work on the knot . If the knot is really tight, apply a single drop of baby oil or cooking oil to that area and repeat the procedure.
19. Storing your winter clothes - Buy colored plastic garbage cans with tight fitting lids.
20. Want to give stemmed flowers more length for an arrangement, just slide them into soda straws before putting them into an vase.
21. Carpet indentations - Place an ice cube in each indentation. Let it melt, then wait for 12 hours before it blots up the moisture; after that gently pull up the carpet fibers using a kitchen fork.
22. Remove Wax from candleholder - Apply a tiny amount of petroleum jelly to ensure easy removal.
23. Rusted strainers - Warm the stain on high heat, then dust thoroughly; rust will disappear.
24. Cleaning of garbage disposal - Put in it a tray of ice cubes with some dishwashing liquid.
25. Never cover anything that is cooked with milk as it will boil & split over & you have to spend hours cleaning the mess.
26. A party at home need a little extra counter space, just place a large cutting board over top of the sink. Instant extra counter space.
27. Keep the cut outs of your recipes clean and easy to use by storing them in small photo albums. They're especially great for recipes taken from thin paper like; from magazines or newspapers.You can even keep your cookbook open at the right page when you're using a recipe, just slip a bookmark at that page.
28. Electric Mixers - Always make certain your mixer is unplugged when inserting or taking out the beaters so as to avoid fatal accidents.
29. Keep a spray bottle full of bleach and water for kitchen counters, cutting boards and bathrooms.Be sure to protect your clothing.
30. Keep your carpet smelling fresh and clean with baking soda. just sprinkle the soda liberally over the entire carpet and let it sit for an hour. Then vacuum it up.

31. Placing mirrors in a room will give you extra light.
32. Save the water after boiling eggs and cool it, then use it as a tonic for your houseplants.
33. Rub a little Vaseline around the neck of your nail polish as soon as you purchase it. This will prevent the top from sticking, making it easier to open.
34. A handful of washing soda in the washing machine will keep your garments very soft without using expensive softeners.
35. To clean small children’s toys such as Lego bricks, place them in a pillowcase, secure the top with safety pins and put through a cold wash in your washing machine.
36. A quick and easy way to stick a tile back on the wall is to mix 1tb.sp flour and 1tb.sp salt to a thick paste with cold water, then secure it back to the wall. It sets hard and saves buying a whole packet of tile fixative.
37. To avoid cockroaches in the kitchen, make a dough of 1 tbsp. besan, 1tbsp. powdered sugar; 2 tbsp. boric powder and make small balls. Keep these balls in drawers and shelves of the kitchen.
38. If there are greenish stains on the fittings just cut a lemon and smear the juice. Leave for few minutes as the citric acid goes into action. Then, wash off.
39. To clean small-neck bottles or vases, place a little rice and warm soapy water inside and shake well. Rinse out and let drip dry.
40. You can catch Cobweb by putting an old stocking over a broom. Use it to reach those pesky spiderwebs. Webs cling to the stocking and won't let go.

41. For a good smelling house squeeze a few drops of fresh lemon juice into the dustbag of your vacuum cleaner before you start it up.
42. Do you hate to paint inside your home because of the smell ? Just add a few drops of vanilla extract (essence) to the paint when stirring or mixing. This will remove the unpleasant smell but won't affect your color.
43. To renew old sponges soak them in cold salt water.
44. To clean your blender in a jiffy, partly fill the container with the solution of warm water and liquid soap, secure the lid and run the motor for a few seconds. Drain the container, rinse it thoroughly, and set aside to dry thoroughly.
45. Spray inside of ice cube trays with non-stick cooking spray. It will make ice cubes practically fall out instead of sticking.
46. Borax removes stains on toilet bowls.Lemons remove greasy fingerprints on windows.
47. Run a cup of white vinegar through the entire cycle of an empty dishwasher. This will remove all soap film and leave it sparkling clean.
48. If you keep your candles in the freezer they will last longer and drip less.
49. Wax your dustpans--dirt will slide right off.
50. To remove the odor of the flask or thermos, rinse it with curd and a pinch of salt.
51. If silver Jewelry gets black apply tooth paste and rub it very well.
52. To prevent sticking of ice trays in the freezer, place a sheet of foil or wax paper under them.
53. If you want drip-free, long-burning candles, put them in the freezer overnight before burning them.
54. If by mistake you have added to much tomatoes to a Curry and it turned out a bit oily and sour, don't worry add 4-5 cubes of grinded breadcrumbs along with 1/2 tsp.of sugar to the curry and mix well...... Try this it Will definitely help.
55. Prevent ice-trays from sticking to the freezer by sprinkling a little salt on the surface of the freezer before you place the ice-trays.
56. If you wax your ash-trays, ashes won't cling, odors won't linger and they can be wiped cleaned easily with a paper towel or disposable tissue.
57. Pour leftover coffee in the soil of your plants. It acts as a good fertilizer.
58. Homemade Liquid Cleaner: In a bottle or in a plastic container with a tight lid, mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda with 1 pint of warm water. Use this solution to mop vinyl floors, or wash windows.
59. Overnight soaking in liquid household bleach will rid a kitchen sponge of odors and remove any food stains at the same time.
