Cool How to reduce the use of gas? - some tips.....

Hi ladies,

I dont know whether I opened this thread in the correct forum. But wanted to share my ideas to reduce the useage of gas. here are some tips. As usual please add your views in this. I think this is very important thing for the present situation.
  1. *Use cooker’s compartments to cook rice, dal and veg at a time. This will reduce time and gas.
  2. *Keep everything ready to cook and then switch on the gas.
  3. *Now a days we get one extra fitting to make ‘kuzhaputtu’ you can get that and fix it on the cooker. So you can make ‘kuzhaputtu’ easily before you put weight on the cooker.
  4. *Make and store Ready made powders. So that you can avoid heating the kadai whenever you make ‘arachuvitta sambar’ or ‘koottu’. You can keep dal + veg. in one cooker compartment and after opening the cooker, just make one seasoning in the pan, pour the dal and veg mixture and add ‘kootu podi’. Mix well and just bring it to a boil. That is all your kootu ready.
  5. *Like this, for sambar also don’t make separate ‘seasoning’. First make seasoning and then add veg., dal and puli paste and make sambar. I n all my recipes you can see that. I always tell to do like that. Even for rasam, first make seasoning and then make rasam. This will reduce gas consumption.
  6. *When you use veg. from fridge or freezer , allow them to come to room temp. and then cook.
  7. *When you prepare dosa or chappati, you can make all the dosas or chappati at a time and keep them in the hot pack, instead of heating the tawa each and every time.
  8. *You can add more salads in your meal. This is good for health and your wealth also.
  9. *You can use water heaters to heat water to drink or bath.
  10. Clean your buner often and the flame must be blue in colour. If it turns yellow then it is time to clean your burner.
  11. *Also use small burner often and if you are going to use the big one let the vessel also big like cooker.
  12. *Reduce the flame and cook. So that you will not waste the energy by heating the walls of the vessel.
  13. *If you use a ‘click’ stove you can save some energy.
*If you don’t have current problem, use electrical cooker for rice and in that also you can keep the plate and you can cook veg. or idly quickly.
  • *You can go for MW and you can reheat your chappati or dosa in that. Even you can heat rice. Just put rice sambar and then keep it in MW and press ‘1 plate of food’ that is all. You will get hot meal within no time.
  • *Use MW to cook veg. or to make crispy pappad.
