Default Wonderful Thread

Dear mrs Chitra,

Have been follwoing this thread right since its conception. It is nice to see our customs and rituals getting explained. I also used to ask a lot of questions as a girl. Especially regarding customs we have followed blindly like " notcutting nails or combing your hair" after lighting the lamp in the evening etc... Luckily for me , my mom had a scientific explanation for everything, so it was easier for me to follow .

I am just amazed that our ancestors all those eons ago, concieved all these rituals for the general good of all . With the advancement of technology, a lot of the customs are moot, like observing"pathu" etc..... but we still do it nowadays, it is hard to let go of customs that are ingrained in you since birth.

Am lookingforward to reading more posts from you on this thread.

Vandhana

Default Thankyou, Vandhana !

Your motivation does mean a lot to me, Vandhana !
My personal explanation of " pathu" is - any cooked dish is highly perishable & should not get " mixed up" with preserves, pickles, milk etc.Imagine a drop of kuzambu falling in a pickle jar ??!!
It is encouraging to know that you are all with me in this thread.
Love & regards,
Chithra.

Unhappy Better late than never

Dear Mrs CV,
Just went through the new posting on' Why we go to temple'. Wonderful summary. I have understood the meaning of lighting camphor, offering money on the' sudam thattu' and the meaning of prasadam.
Just yesterday we had been to temple and how I wish I had read this so I could have fully appreciated the meaning of the above, instead of doing it mechanically. At least now I will make sure I understand it fully once again before we go to temple next Sunday.I did pray for you and all the IL'ites so we can enjoy each others company for many more years to come.Looking forward to your next post.'Phir milengai break ke baadh'.

Love,

Dear Chitra,

Just now read your post "Why we go to temple". whenever i go to temple,
one question runs why the sanctum is kept dark? but you have given a
wonderful explanation and now everything clarified.
By your posts you are lighting the dark minds of us who are not aware of
the meaning of the rituals.

regards,
surya.

Hi chitvish,

I would agree to everyone that this is indeed a beautiful write-up ..
It has cleared a lot of doubts I had in mind...I don't want to sound neagative but can I ask you a question about god...only when you say yeas I would go ahead...

Default Hello Sundari !

You are welcome to ask the question. If I know the answer, I will write. If not, I will admit that I do not know the answer - it is as simple as that !
Love & regards,
Chithra.
