Cost of living in Chennai

Hi,

I am just curious to know as to what will be the cost of a family of 3 living in Chennai?
Say, in a good schooling area, in a rented apt., I am talking of basic amenities, like maintaining a car, leading a good life, not on the higher end, but a decent middle class life.

In chennai rent for house itself cost around 10k-15k in a good location. Other than that schooling is expensive even we opt for good school. Morethan that maitance of the vechile will adding little burden. All together surely we would need 35-40k

cost of living in chennai is very high , you will need atleast 35 k, to lead a moderate life

35-45k is definitely needed!!
even basic food items and rice gas petrol price's have risen now.

am relocating to chennai from sydney around august. Can you give me a break-up of the expenses in chennai. Say, transport, groceries, electricity, phonebill etc for a family of 3 (one kid going to school). I've been out of chennai for long and I want a rough estimate so that I can get the big picture.
Please give me the cost price of oils, dals and other items.

I am currently in muscat but been on vacation for about 7 weeks the cost of vegetables on the first week changed drastically on the last week price of the rise costed Rs 24to 28 oil is 70-80 per lit cost of living is increasing day by day you must plan accordingly dal is Rs 45-50 depending on the area also matters otherwise chennai is best place to live
