Libraries in chennai

Hi All,

I am a voracious reader. i have been buying books for quite sometime. now have stopped for two reasons. I am not finding space to display.all are packed in cartons and also to reduce my carbon print on earth (have been told by friends that even books we buy cause carbon emission.) so my contribution this way to saving earth. but i still cant resist buying some books.:mad:. so alternative to hit the libraries...

Here, I try to track out the libraries in and around chennai both public and private. Private the membership fees start from a minimum of Rs.150 (from 10 when i was a kid) to upto Rs.500.the rental for the books has now become the same in most of the them at % on the books.(mostly 10)

There are treasure troves in the libraries.. state owned...french books are available there...

I have stopped buying books, as I don't have space to store, and cannot part with the books.. I just pick up the books from the library...

And my librarian is such a nice old man, who gets any book you ask...

good information.my favourite was and still is connemara public library since my school days from early eighties.at that timeit was closed only 3 days in a year. republic day,independence day and gandhi jayanthi.and one time fee or advance deposit was rs 20.which was refunded when u cancel the membership. those were my golden days.
