Oops..,, Overlooked the beard part of it!. I am trying to recall what Khushwant Singh wrote about washing and nourishing his beard with curd, etc..

Being in Chennai has its advantages. One can use soap and get away. Living in North India or in USA , our dry skins gets flaky, and we are forced to use kadalai Maavu . ( Of course the secret is to have a good shiny skin).

Dear J
Bearded men dont worry about their skin getting flaky because the flakes would be hidden beneath the growth!

I'm really intrigued about the cause for your hypertension especially since you seem to take everything in a lighter vein but am sure glad that this was the least eventful sequel. That apart may be you could consider investing in bathroom locks that can be opened from outside in case of emergency. These come with generic keys which look almost like a flat piece of metal attached to a hook - the flat surface fits in the groove of the locks to open it. Newer homes in the U.S. are equipped with bathrooms using these locks as a safety precaution for not only the elderly or for the sick but more importantly for the little ones who love to play hide and seek and lock themselves in. For the same reason wall closets do not come with locks.

Dear Lavanya
I am amazed how there can be such simple solutions to problems of which we make a mountain! I was certainly not aware of locks with generic keys and their use in the case of the elderly and the sick.
BP doesn't spare even the most light hearted. Logically it should affect only those who have to deal with light hearted old men! BP that comes without rhyme or reason is termed 'Essential' Hypertension. I dont know why it is called so.

I didn't know if you really wanted to know the reason for the name, but here it goes, just in case you are interested...
Essential in this case is synonymous with "primary". So essential hypertension or essential tremors etc mean that those disorders have occured as a primary disorder and were not a caused due to some other "major" disorder. The latter will be called secondary hypertension etc. Although yours may be essential hypertension, it still can be modulated to a great deal with your lifestyle - that was the reason I was wondering how essential hypertension escalated to such dangerous levels to cause cerebral hemorrhage especially if you are such a light hearted person as you seem be on this forum.

Dear Lavanya
Thanks for the explanation about 'essential hypertension'. I never knew this before. I am appalled that I have had essential hypertension for thirty long years without caring to know the meaning of it! All I knew was that my hypertension had no reason to be bothering me as neither my lifestyle nor my outlook of life supported its existence!
