Chandigarh Administration has decided to change the school timings from May 6, 2009. UT Spokesperson today disclosed that for the Single Shift Schools the morning timings have been changed from 8.00am to 7.30am and these schools will close at 1.00pm instead of 2.00 pm.
He further revealed that for Double shift Schools the morning shift will start from 7.15 am till 12.30 pm and the second shift i.e. afternoon shift would start from 1.15 pm till 5.30 pm. The Spokesperson said that the decision is consequent to the rise in the day temperature in the city.

Special directions have also been issued to all the heads of the Schools in order to give respite to the school children, which include discontinuing of the Morning Assembly till May 31, 2009, restricting outdoor activities and using game periods for any other subject as per requirement. It has been further directed to ensure proper functioning of fans in all the rooms and water coolers in the school and to further check the availability of ORS in good quantity in schools.

However, timings for teachers of Single Shift Schools would be from 7.30 am to 1.30pm, where as for the teachers Double Shift Schools the morning shift will be from 7.15am to 1.15 pm.
