I am already married so just sharing what I did for my reception.I got married in 2004.

What do you prefer for your wedding reception?
Beautiful Designer saree .

I wore a brick red designer saree for my reception, specially made to order.I had sequins work all over the saree and costed me 25,000 .For wedding I wore a silk saree but for reception I didnt like wearing a silk saree.

Jewellery:

Antique jewellery.

For reception I wore a antique jewellery(Kundan necklace, earrings, tikka) only so that it would go well with the designer saree I wore.Of course I matched with some kundan bangles too.
  • Mehendhi Designs:
Traditional Mehendhi.
  • Facial:
Gold .

I did gold facial for my wedding. It is def.worth it and gave a very dewy glowy look, but u need to have much patience,it takes a very long time and so many procedures, but def.worth it.
  • Hairstyle:
I left my hair loose with just blowdry curls at the ends,it was def.good for the costume, jewellery I wore.

Ah...just remembering those times....

What do you prefer for your wedding reception?
Beautiful red / maroon with stones studded Lengha .

I wore a baby pink (jyothika weddign saree colour) silk saree with rose sighlty embossed. Tied in right side with pallu at the front...But everyone told it was very goergeous

Jewellery:

For reception I wore a Kundan necklace, earrings, tikka to suit the pink saree colour
  • Mehendhi Designs:
Traditional + Arabic Mehendhi. ( but the designs were not good) as the designer didnt do it properly...
  • Facial:
since i got acne just 1 month before marriage, i didnt do facial for marriage instead i did chemical peel as advised by doctor.

Hairstyle:
I left my hair llike a ponytail and at the bottom tied with a rope and again tied to the upper part.. It suited well for the saree and jewles

Thank you Satin for kick starting this thread with your reply.

your designer saree is too costly. . Even I bought a designer silk saree for my brother's wedding that costed around 13,000. Its color is light olive green with maroon border. And took a pink color silk saree which costed around 12,500 on the same day. That was my second and third saree. So my mother accepted it despite its costs. And ofcourse Antique jewels will go well with any designer sarees.

I've a few question regarding Gold facial. When did you do that a month before your wedding or or a week? How much they charged you?

Hi,

I did the gold facial 3 days before my wedding, its not advisable to do any facial just before the wedding because the face may swell and such things,I did the facial 5 yrs ago so dont remember the exact amount I think it costed me around 5,000.Since this is a once in a life time event we never really cared about money and all my lffe I've been a huge fan of pretty costumes,so obviously we spent so much for my attire.

Wow you purchased two costly sarees on the same day!Kudos :)

hi brindaarun I can really imagine how your saree must have been, its a vey very lovely colour...

yeah. I bought it for my brother's wedding two years back. I kept the designer saree as such. I've not even stitched the blouse, thinking that I may put on weight. Moreover I dont wear saree. So they are all sleeping in my wardrobe.

Hello
Here are some tips to help you out.
  • Choose a song that is meaningful. Nearly all wedding slide shows have an accompanying soundtrack, so make sure that you pick a song or songs that are meaningful to the couple. If you don’t know what they’d like or they don’t have a favorite, try to choose something classic and romantic to suit the mood of the day.
  • Add transitions and effects. If you have the capability to do cool things with PowerPoint why not do them? Make the most of the effects and transitions the program offers so that your presentation will look much more professional and keep your audience enthralled.
  • Choose a variety of photos. You’ll want to make sure that you’re using a good mixture of horizontal and vertical photos in your slide show as well as pictures that come from a variety of places in the couple’s lives. This will keep things interesting and make your slide show flow better.
  • Don’t go too long. Just like if you were giving a business presentation, length is a major concern when you are putting together a slide show if it’s meant to have a captive audience rather than go in the background. Keep it short so that your audience can enjoy it but also be able to socialize and enjoy their meals as well.
  • Know your audience. The best wedding slide shows will be those that you create for the people close to you. Then you’ll have lots of stories and funny pictures to add to the show that others who are not as close would not. You’ll also be able to better gauge if the couple would want a show that is geared towards entertaining their audience with their antics or providing a more romantic view of their relationship.
