Constipation for 3 month old baby

Dear friends......

My daughter is 3 month old. She didnt go to poo poo since three days..

Can we use the glycerin suppository ?

Did any one used this ? On the bottle it is mentioned that it causes some iritation.

Can we use this for 3 month baby........

pls suggest me..........

hai vasu,

dont take tension ur child is very normal. when the child is under mother feed dont worry about the constipation. it will be happens. i have a 8 months old baby go through the same problem on her 2nd month. please dont use anything for it. some childs do poo poo in 10 days once. if the baby cries much then take doctors advice the doctor wll give colicaid drops then the child will do the poo poo smoothly. please consult with doctor then only give any medicine to your baby.

Are you breastfeeding? If so, it is normal for breastfed babies to go for couple of days without a poop. Do not use suppository without consulting the doctor.
Do the cycling exercise for the baby which will help relieve her of any gas.

Also, if you are breastfeeding then you drink some prune juice which inturn the baby might get it through your milk.

If your baby does not poop withint 5-7 days then call your doctor

hi

please soak some raisins in water overnight and give the water to baby. it is a very good medicine for constipation.

My daughter too is 3 mos old..and she hardly has regularity in going poo-poo. as she is exclusively breastfed, I have stopped even counting the days she goes without poo. But when she goes, it is semi-solid..so am sure she is not constipated..However she passes gas often..not sure whether it is okay...

Hi Vasu,

Its ok if LO is not popping for 5-6 days, even my LO had this and my pedi said nothing to worry....but if she constipate, then watch ur diet. Dont give anything to your LO without consulting ur pedi.

Vasu, how was the stools - was it soft or hard and pellet like. If it was soft then it s NOT constipation. My DS was a once in 4 day-er. That is totally normal for a breastfed baby. Breastmilk has very little "waste" matter in it and almost all of it is absorbed by the body. You really do not need to give your bf-ed child water or raisin water or anything else IF the stools are soft after three days. HTH.

Thanks for the reply ..
The stool was soft and normal.
I didnt give her any raisin water. I am taking care of my diet.
I was eating Dal.. May be due that it happened.

Its again 3rd day.. she didnt do poo poo till now.. I dont understand y its happening again..
I am Breastfeeding my little one..

Vasu,
It is normal for breastfed babies not to go Poo Poo for couple of days.
It's not because you ate dal. That's totally a myth. You need to eat nutritious food inorder to make milk for your baby. so please don't think that way!

Is she strains while going and if the stools are hard and pellet like, then she is constipated.

But if the stools are soft and normal, then there is nothing to worry at all. It's totally normal.
