    Hello friends ..
My baby is 25 days old. I don't have enough milk. My milk secreation goes down from 15th day itself. I have tried eating fish and country chicken , but I don't find much difference. My DS cries always for milk and he sleeps only if I give formula milk. I'm giving 30ml twice.
My first baby is EBF for 1.5 years. I don't want to continue formula milk for my DS.Pls help me how to increase my BM secretion.

Note: same thing happened with my first baby, in second month my BM increased. But now I'm quite week in health with my 2nd baby.

First of all don't stress, stress can affect your supply. Keep your baby close and keep feeding him on demand. Don't look at schedules just nurse him when he wants, even if he is just nursing for comfort. The more he suckles, the more milk will be produced.
Undress the baby, leave him in only his diaper and feed him because skin to skin also stimulates milk production.

Drink lots of water and make sure you have enough protein in your diet. You need more calories when you are breast feeding than when you are pregnant, so make sure you are eating well.

Also including methi and oatmeal in your diet is also said to improve milk production.
If nothing works in spite of your best efforts, don't worry, including some formula is not the worst thing in the world :)

Also go through articles such as these KellyMom.com : Increasing Low Milk Supply on the website Kellymom. A lot of times moms mistakenly believe that they have low supply and begin supplementing. So it helps to make sure :)

    Hi MrsSiva,

I can suggest few items for milk secretion. But follow it, without fail and you will find lots of differences.

    1. Garlic(Big ones, we call 'China Poondu/ Malai Poondu' in tamil). Handful of garlic, boil it in 250 ml of milk, till it gets cooked completely. Eat that, twice a day. Afte you eat that, with in an hour, your breast will be heavy. I felt that so many times.

    2. Mother's Horlicks - 4 times a day 2 - 3 scoops in 200 ml of milk. I used to drink in the below cycle. 6:00 AM - to feed my daughter in the morning, 10:00 AM, next 6:00 PM and 10 PM (for midnight feeding). U can have anytime in the midnight also.

3: Moongdal sambar or moong dal fry.(Any dal items, like, Moongdal, toor dal, and peanuts will help in milk secretion a lot)

    4. Mutton Liver - every alternate days.

If you dont try the last 2, atleast try the first 2 which is very very effective. All these are given to me by my mom....

    Hi

This is an old thread still I would like to reply if it would help someone else.
I think eating healthy is important and no particular food would increase milk supply.

Milk supply can only be increased by feeding. More you feed, more would be supply. If you feel milk is not increasing even after feeding it means baby is not latching properly.

It is always wise to consult a lactation specialist before introducing formula for less milk supply.
