Default Review of "Sea of Poppies" by Amitav Ghosh

I became an instant fan of Amitav Ghosh when I read "The Hungry Tide" and "Sea of Poppies", the first of his trilogy, did not let me down either. Set in pre-independence India, it very nicely brings together a motley group of people and entwine their lives through a ride on a ship sailing to Mauritius over the "Kala paani". The writing is a happy mixture of being thought-provoking, humorous and melancholic.

Default Re: Review of "Sea of Poppies" by Amitav Ghosh

Hi

Me too was totally impressed after reading Hungry Tide. I actually even cried at the end of it . I love Amitav Ghosh's narration and writing style. His Glass Palace is also an awesome book. Sea of Poppies - I started reading it and for some reason have got stuck and not proceeding further. I hope to resume or even start all over again soon and this time hope that it does not stop again at the same place. Thank you!
